I know people are investigating the samples of the toxin they managed to harvest from those monsters a few months ago. So, it's not out of the question, though I'd have to wonder why the natives didn't manage it ages ago . . . maybe it really is a spiritual disease more than a "poison" in the literal way. Why else would hugging cure it? I guess if you look at it like that, we really are the antidote after all!
