Never underestimate public perception. It's a powerful tool, even if it is flawed at times.
Admittedly, that was past my time, so I only know what I've been told. I did look into it a bit, but circumstances kept me from really knowing firsthand. The entire concept as to how they saved the world might sound a bit strange to most people.
Let's just say I used to be one of those "Phantom Thieves", but not exactly in league with them. It's a bit complicated. Basically from what I've had to dig up myself, people were put into real danger and acted no better than these metal tin cans.

Actually no... I take that back. They were worse than these tin cans. These robots at least seem to have emotions and some sort of artificial intelligence. The people back home had no desire to live their own lives and were okay with someone else calling the shots so that they didn't have to make any decisions themselves.
