Our knowledge of the energy is that it exists because of the physical transmission of positive connection. There is far more to it than simply that alone of course, but their bodies were not created with the capabilities to conduct it. Something that was perhaps missing from the process to begin with. We would need more information in regard to their mindsets at the time, which they are less willing to share, if they are even allowed that level of knowledge to themselves, with all of the processing that they do to survive. Being overloaded consistently with our new information and needs and whims cannot do much to help that, either.
As for a divide, such ones that might exist between mindsets would not be uncommon among multiple worlds with belief systems. If one strives toward what they see as forward progress, the divine often gets left behind if relying solely on tradition. And one may not know how such traditions become so to begin with. Although perhaps Ohma's priests would be the ones to question, since they are noted for more adherence to such things, especially in these months.
