Gods, or at least the idea of them, are notoriously difficult to kill. Even a trace is enough to revive their worship, under the right circumstance.

[The primals, at least, based upon ideas as they are, are all but impossible to completely eliminate with any means short of genocide.]

'Slithered in the dirt,' in particular, matches rather poorly with those we've been told about. Rawna is a bit serpentine, perhaps, but one hardly describes dragons as slithering. I imagine they find it rather insulting.
