Hello to my fellow Havenwell citizens~! It's me, Magolor. You may have heard of me already! The natives of our beautiful city called me your emissary, and I take their words very seriously! When I feel like it.

Hehehe, just kidding! I'll get to the point now that I've introduced myself. I really do care about closing the culture and knowledge gap between us offworlders and the natives. Since we're going to be living here for a while and they owe us so much, it's only right that everyone's as comfortable, happy, and informed as possible. That's my job!

I'm going to pay the council another visit soon, so all I'm asking of you is that you chip in with anything you'd like me to either pass along or investigate. What do you really wish the natives knew about taking better care of us? What do you reeeeally wish we knew about whatever's going on here? Pass it along to me, and I'll pass it along to them and get the conversation started! Last time they listened to our requests and put some real work into fixing up the food replicators, but by now I think we've all got some more important concerns to pass along, huh?

It's an actual paper notebook, which he way overspent for early in his stay here, it not having occurred yet to his genius ass that paper is hard to come by on a planet with few trees left. But it is at least useful for anything he doesn't want in his tablet, or when he's doing video.]

I'll add it to my list! Though I'm not sure "get" to go home is the right word for it. Have you heard about the vanishing sickness?

Sickness? I've seen network posts about people who left, but were those actually wrong? --I'm sure at least one of them said it specifically, but--

I can't tell you for sure. That's part of the problem! I know of one way that people disappear from this world. But not everyone knows about it, and if there's a second way, obviously not everyone knows about that one, since I've never heard of someone just "leaving." So either way, there's an issue in communication between the natives and us, right?

... I saw a tiny hint of something, and just got caught up in being mad and feeling sorry for myself without thinking about it any further... I did it again....

Grand Emissary Magolor! I would like to revise my question! Please ask them to explain why it seems like some people are gone, and if there is any way they would recommend petitioning the gods to send us home!

[Ahhhh, as to be expected of Goofy. Magolor doesn't even react to this ridiculousness except to smile back and write that down on his paper. He's not even pretending, he actually does write it down. It'll be funny to whip out in the middle of their meeting.]

But she's not wrong, and he writes that down too. It's something that was definitely on his own mental list, or at least the first part was.]

Leave it to me! I think we'd all like to hear the official word on that. I'll tell you what I've heard: some newcomers come down with an illness that makes them vanish from this world bit by bit. It has something to do with not being properly aligned to it, probably in the process of bringing us over. But if that were true, shouldn't we know officially?

Is that what you meant by vanishing sickness? So it doesn't even happen all at once? [ Her shudder is visible in how it makes the camera shake. ] Gruesome...! This is the first time I'm hearing about it!

I don't know! I'll tell you this. My roommate disappeared, too, and I didn't notice anything off about him until one day he was just gone. But I know other people have had the illness and recovered from it. So, either it depends on some other factor, or there are two different things going on.

[This is the first time he's explicitly mentioned to anyone that he's lost his roommate. To think it'd be her!]

So even you had a roommate--no, never mind-- [ That's not the important part here. And it's none of her business anyway! ]

If the sickness really works like you said, that case does sound like something different.... But either way, there's just way too much mystery about our circumstances. I mean, if they aren't going to eventually send us slackers home, it doesn't make sense that they wouldn't find some way to deal with us.... Right?

[Instead of playing up being jokingly offended the way he sometimes does, he does actually mutter that under his breath with some irritation, as he grabs and poises his paper notebook again. But it clears up quickly enough.]

Anyway, how so? Don't worry, this is off the record! I'm not telling anything to the natives that people aren't specifically telling me to pass along.

Admittedly, a non-trivial part of her had sort of imagined that Magolor just slept on a cloud and wandered around freely the rest of the time, living his mysterious life. Why is she so silly and carried away by fantasies! Why are all her personal flaws coming out in this one conversation!

Weakly, she brings up her other hand to wave in protest. ]

Ah but, um, which part do you mean? The dealing with slackers part? I guess I've always thought it was strange that they would go to the trouble of trapping us here and keeping us alive, but then leave it mostly up to us whether we do the things they brought us here to do. Aren't the low achievers bound to be more trouble than we're worth, sooner or later? If sending us home just isn't... possible, then... I have to wonder, you know?

Not especially. But last time I hit them up, I wasn't as interested in information as I am now. I think a lot of us felt the same way back then! We were all new and worrying about things like where our next edible meal would come from, not alien spider invasions or mysterious archives.
