[Good morning Havenwell! A chipper little guy (a Pokemon or something?!) is waving into the camera some time a bit before lunch on this fine Lasra day.]
Hello to my fellow Havenwell citizens~! It's me, Magolor. You may have heard of me already! The natives of our beautiful city called me your emissary, and I take their words very seriously! When I feel like it.
[Smile.]
Hehehe, just kidding! I'll get to the point now that I've introduced myself. I really do care about closing the culture and knowledge gap between us offworlders and the natives. Since we're going to be living here for a while and they owe us so much, it's only right that everyone's as comfortable, happy, and informed as possible. That's my job!
I'm going to pay the council another visit soon, so all I'm asking of you is that you chip in with anything you'd like me to either pass along or investigate. What do you really wish the natives knew about taking better care of us? What do you reeeeally wish we knew about whatever's going on here? Pass it along to me, and I'll pass it along to them and get the conversation started! Last time they listened to our requests and put some real work into fixing up the food replicators, but by now I think we've all got some more important concerns to pass along, huh?
Anyhoo, you can respond to this message if you have any input. Or, if you'd rather things be off the record and a little more personal, I encourage you to come meet me today at Petals & Pages! I'll be there waiting for anyone who wants to chat. The couches are super comfy! Major shout-out to Vianca, the second-tiniest entrepreneur!
[He's the tiniest, duh. Not counting Vianca's plant self. He's being a good boy and not mentioning that about her!]
Laaaast thing: I'm going to see if I can't get another look at those archives we were all working in a few months back, so let me know if there's anything you'd like me to keep an eye out for when I do. Even I can't read an entire library at once. All right, I've blabbed enough! Come drop by for a chat! Or embrace cold technology and reply to me here. ♥ Bye byeee~.
(( There is no log post to go with this network post; instead, have a mingle toplevel! Feel free to reply here or there as you and your character prefer \o/ ))

Yes! Hello Grand Emissary Magolor! I would like to know why some people get to go home, but not others! Any information about this, please!
no subject
brightens at the address, scribbling something into the notebook he's got by his side. It's an actual paper notebook, which he way overspent for early in his stay here, it not having occurred yet to his genius ass that paper is hard to come by on a planet with few trees left. But it is at least useful for anything he doesn't want in his tablet, or when he's doing video.]
I'll add it to my list! Though I'm not sure "get" to go home is the right word for it. Have you heard about the vanishing sickness?

[ DECEPTION FROM THEIR ROBOT OVERLORDS?? ]
no subject
I can't tell you for sure. That's part of the problem! I know of one way that people disappear from this world. But not everyone knows about it, and if there's a second way, obviously not everyone knows about that one, since I've never heard of someone just "leaving." So either way, there's an issue in communication between the natives and us, right?
1/2
[ Her head dips, even as she keeps holding the communicator out the same way. Getta load of the top of her head, Magolor, maybe you can even see her roots starting to show. ]
... I saw a tiny hint of something, and just got caught up in being mad and feeling sorry for myself without thinking about it any further... I did it again....
[ Hope you don't mind all this casual oversharing about her personal failings. ]

Grand Emissary Magolor! I would like to revise my question! Please ask them to explain why it seems like some people are gone, and if there is any way they would recommend petitioning the gods to send us home!
no subject
But she's not wrong, and he writes that down too. It's something that was definitely on his own mental list, or at least the first part was.]
Leave it to me! I think we'd all like to hear the official word on that. I'll tell you what I've heard: some newcomers come down with an illness that makes them vanish from this world bit by bit. It has something to do with not being properly aligned to it, probably in the process of bringing us over. But if that were true, shouldn't we know officially?

[This is the first time he's explicitly mentioned to anyone that he's lost his roommate. To think it'd be her!]

If the sickness really works like you said, that case does sound like something different.... But either way, there's just way too much mystery about our circumstances. I mean, if they aren't going to eventually send us slackers home, it doesn't make sense that they wouldn't find some way to deal with us.... Right?
no subject
[Instead of playing up being jokingly offended the way he sometimes does, he does actually mutter that under his breath with some irritation, as he grabs and poises his paper notebook again. But it clears up quickly enough.]
Anyway, how so? Don't worry, this is off the record! I'm not telling anything to the natives that people aren't specifically telling me to pass along.
no subject
Weakly, she brings up her other hand to wave in protest. ]
No... I was just thinking about what a loser I am for still not having one. Please don't read anything into it.
[ That isn't a lie either. She was indeed thinking that. ]
Ah but, um, which part do you mean? The dealing with slackers part? I guess I've always thought it was strange that they would go to the trouble of trapping us here and keeping us alive, but then leave it mostly up to us whether we do the things they brought us here to do. Aren't the low achievers bound to be more trouble than we're worth, sooner or later? If sending us home just isn't... possible, then... I have to wonder, you know?
no subject
I've been wondering about that too. It's working out for them so far, so I can't exactly criticize their methods yet! But it'd be too easy for it to stop working out for them the way they expect, and I wonder what they'd do if it did? I know one woman who refuses to do any of the touching at all. I told her to keep me posted on if she sees any blowback or strange effects from it.
[And then, because he can't entirely let it go:]
By the way, have you tried just asking the network who needs a roommate, or did you just decide you were a loser first?
no subject
But, I guess that kinda has something to do with why I'm not putting out any ads? Since it's not like we have to worry about paying rent here, if you're not already good enough friends with someone to want them around all the time, wouldn't the main reason for having a roommate be so you can have someone at your fingertips whenever you feel like it? I'm not interested in that.
no subject
You aren't wrong about that! But it's about more than just profit, too. This planet's been known to punish us for things like sleeping alone. It's a war between our pride and our health!
And as for me, I really wish I had a roommate who was a good cook . . . !

[ huff huff! ]
Grand Emissary, thank you for bearing with me and shedding so much light on things for me. I really did mean to keep it to the first message, but I ended up taking up a lot of your time!
no subject
[Who gave him that title . . . is he really worthy of it . . . ]
In other words, any time. You're welcome!
no subject
Thank you for your hard work!! Ah--and I hope you find an adequate roommate! Actually--what kind of food do you like? I can't make any promises, but maybe it's something I know how to make.
[ What does a guy like Magolor eat?? Caviar? Century eggs? Candied violets? Turkish delight? ]
no subject
Really~? I'm not picky!
[This is true. He should come up with a better answer than this, because he's asked this from time to time here, when he never had been before in his life . . . but his preferences are both broad and minor. His palate is not especially refined.]
Wellllll, I'll never say no to any kind of fruity dessert!
[That is his one major weakness!]
