This is Chief Besithia. After some investigation it has come to my attention that medical services are limited here. Considering the lack of biological life present previous to our arrival, it's of no great surprise that hospitals weren't a priority. There are limited supplies as well.

Thus, I would like to offer my medical services. I would charge a nominal fee to cover the cost of supplies.

I have over a decade's worth of experience out in the field and have had dealt with everything from mild to critical injuries. I often had to work with limited supplies or in substandard conditions and was commended for my work.

Though our world was limited to humans, based on my extensive experience I believe I would be proficient in adapting my knowledge to work with other races as well.

I'm also an adept engineer, in case anyone happens to have mechanical parts or be wholly mechanical.

I have my reasons.

[Mostly that giving medical care was one of the situations he was experienced in that involved touching others.]

Given the sudden weather events it may. The other day I happened upon a young girl trying to clean up rubble left on the street. Much of the world is supposedly drowning in chaos, as well, so who knows how safe we truly are.

I suppose I can't blame you for the caution, but how are you intending on finding the supplies you need?

I can accomplish multiple goals at once. But yes, I see no reason not to help if it doesn't negatively affect me.

[Though he was more the type to be intrigued by the challenge of treating a severe injury and solving it, much like a puzzle, he had nothing against treating simple things as well.]

There are supplies available, though they are limited and basic.

Do you intend to supplement them with your own creations?

[He's admittedly curious, even though he's unlikely to go for Verstael for treatment.

It may be necessary. Our hosts have been immersed in the mechanical for an unknown amount of time. If their efforts to finds treatments come with as many flaws as their efforts to recreate food, it may be safer to rely on someone with a more thorough knowledge and recent experience with building and creating equipment for that purpose.

It's fortunate that I have an extensive background in engineering as well. Though my work wasn't necessarily in a hospital, it will transfer well to fit that need.

[One didn't, after all, randomly clone things without understanding it pretty well. Hopefully the work would build a good rapport with their hosts as well as the travelers, and earn him a little money along the way.]

It already seems as if there's a limit to what they can safely treat.

[Verstael noticed his blindness immediately. It's not something that was treatable back home, but a place that outstrips Lucis in every capacity there's still nothing to be done.]

It would be rather alarming if there were large amounts of injuries.

Still, when a replicator may unexpectedly pour hot coffee onto someone, there are bound to be a few.

[A moment of silence. They had established previously that Ignis was of House Scientia, officially making them enemies. That was not a personal thing, though. In reality, he hardly knew this young man, and he understood well enough that people had no choice where they were born. Here they were far from their world and war. So long as they were being civil, he had no reason to lash out against this man who would be little more than a babe to him back home.]

He's very lucky he wasn't seriously burned, but he doesn't need to know that.]

Your wounds were severe. With what is available right now nothing could be done for them.

[Because when he had seen them he had thought about it. He had to. Like seeing a puzzle with pieces scattered about, his mind raced to figure out how to put them back together.]

The eye in particular would take equipment to determine what nerves are left, if any, or if they would need to be regrown from scratch and transplanted. [The one eye. The other was too damaged to open, which would mean repairing that before even getting to the eye part. None of which would be a sure thing. None of which had been tried before.] Any hope of recovery would have to be postponed until better tools are available.

[He's aware of the extent of the damage, of course, and he's...resigned himself to a life of living in shadow.

Though a part of him, a part of him still wonders if it could be fixed. If he could see again.]

So I'd best learn how to navigate this place on my own, because who knows when better tools will become available.

[He was well aware that if they got to it, the entire process would be laborious and experimental, with no guarantee of results. He was less concerned with how trying it might be on Ignis, though, and more concerned with if he could do it. Imagine being the first to successfully bring vision to a blind man. It would leave a mark in history for certain.]
