A Belated Birthday - video and action options
video
[At least Keith knows how to keep a feed steady on his face. He's had a lot of practice at this. His voice is somewhat hushed, and he is in a darkened room, glancing back over his shoulder before he finally clears his throat and starts to speak.]
It was Lance's birthday on Sunday. And I totally forgot, and I think it might have hurt his feelings. So. [He takes a deep breath, glancing back behind his shoulder again.] I guess I'm going to throw him a late birthday party, so he stops sulking. Please, everyone, I could use some backup here. If you could just show up at the house this afternoon for a few minutes or something, that would be great. You don't have to know us. He'll just be happy to have people paying attention to him.
[There's some noise behind him, and he looks back again before standing up hurriedly and speaking in a hushed voice.] Okay, Keith out.
action
[Keith is pretty sure that Lance is aware that something is up, because he's been running around like a madman setting things up for what he hopes to be at least a decent little gathering. With luck, people have heard the message and will show, and that should help Lance feel a little better. Not that Keith cares, of course. He just wants his roommate to stop making snide comments.
By mid-afternoon, he's managed to set up a table with some food -- of questionable quality, but still edible -- and found a bot to play some music quietly. It's not like any sort of music he's ever heard, honestly, but it'll do the trick for now, hopefully.
Now to wait and pray that someone actually shows. Even better if they bring something with them.]

Oh hey!
[Keith looks relieved, glad that at least one person has shown up.] Uh, make yourself at home, I guess.
no subject
[He reaches up and scratches at his cheek, looking a bit sheepish.]
I, uh, hope he won't mind having to take a rain check on the gift...
no subject
[He shakes his head, glancing back around his shoulder to see what Lance is up to.] Don't worry about it. He'll just be happy people came.
no subject
[He nods, glancing that way. He can't help but smile a bit.]
Alright. It's real nice of you to set this up for him.
no subject
[Keith shrugs, hiding the fact that he's quite pleased by that with a noncommittal noise.]
It's not like it was hard. Besides, he was sulking so much. I had to do something to get him to shut up.
no subject
They're pretty good, all things considered yeah.
[But oh, the next bit makes him grin a bit.]
If you say so, I guess.
no subject
[He returns the grin with a puzzled frown.]
What's that supposed to mean?
no subject
[He's waving a hand as if to dismiss that train of thought.]
Hey, just curious, how long have the two of you known each other, if I may ask?
no subject
He's a little surprised at the question and rubs the back of his head.]
Oh, uh... I don't know, years. Since we were kids. [He shrugs.] We were rivals for a long time though. Still sort of are, but we're teammates first.
no subject
[Something about that seems fond, somehow. His smile turns into a grin.]
So he's had a long time to be a pain in the neck, huh?
no subject
You have no idea.
