A Belated Birthday - video and action options

[At least Keith knows how to keep a feed steady on his face. He's had a lot of practice at this. His voice is somewhat hushed, and he is in a darkened room, glancing back over his shoulder before he finally clears his throat and starts to speak.]
It was Lance's birthday on Sunday. And I totally forgot, and I think it might have hurt his feelings. So. [He takes a deep breath, glancing back behind his shoulder again.] I guess I'm going to throw him a late birthday party, so he stops sulking. Please, everyone, I could use some backup here. If you could just show up at the house this afternoon for a few minutes or something, that would be great. You don't have to know us. He'll just be happy to have people paying attention to him.
[There's some noise behind him, and he looks back again before standing up hurriedly and speaking in a hushed voice.] Okay, Keith out.

[Keith is pretty sure that Lance is aware that something is up, because he's been running around like a madman setting things up for what he hopes to be at least a decent little gathering. With luck, people have heard the message and will show, and that should help Lance feel a little better. Not that Keith cares, of course. He just wants his roommate to stop making snide comments.
By mid-afternoon, he's managed to set up a table with some food -- of questionable quality, but still edible -- and found a bot to play some music quietly. It's not like any sort of music he's ever heard, honestly, but it'll do the trick for now, hopefully.
Now to wait and pray that someone actually shows. Even better if they bring something with them.]

I mean, I just kind of figured no one here really knew me that well, so it didn't really matter that much? I mean, it sort of mattered to me in the end I guess, but it looks like Keith finally remembered something that wasn't related to stabbity funtimes.
[Look, he loves you, buddy, but he's still gonna make fun of you. It's the Lance way of things.]

[Even though Lance considers birthdays a huge deal, time and events over the last several months have caused him to be a little less, well, him. More...humble, perhaps, but not always in a very healthy way.
But that's something he tries not to think about often, especially right now!]
Anyway! Um, yeah, Keith is very much a man of action. He's our team leader, and kinda hot headed, but he's gotten a lot better about that. Still wouldn't want to get on his bad side, though.
[Says his self appointed rival who still calls him "mullet".]
He's pretty cool, though, honestly.

This is for you, by the way! I heard about this kind of late, so I didn't have time for a really good present, sorry.
[He's not exactly a great artist, but it's not completely awful, either. The drawing rolled up in there is an inside joke just for them, though! The scene shows gigantic, muscular corn monsters with razor sharp teeth, with several Duckletts perched on each, holding hokey as hell laser guns in their wings and firing everywhere. In the background, a Cool™ car is driving through an explosion, presumably fleeing the scene. And why wouldn't it? Lance is in the foreground with a Cool™ glowing sword, surrounded by hacked up corn monsters and popcorn, with a robotic, fire-breathing Pyroar at his side. In short, it's pure hilariously terribad 90's aesthetic.]

[Lance takes the tube, pulling the drawing out of it and unrolling the paper. As he takes the sight in, his eyes widen, and a grin begins to grow ever bigger on his face.]
Holy quiznak, Will, this is the best drawing ever! Dude! I am so putting this up on the wall where everyone can see it!
[And he's just going to launch into giving Will a big ol' hug, careful not to squish the picture.]

[Will beams as well, catching Lance to hug right back. Score! It might not be the most artistic thing ever, but it is totally unique and handmade. And who doesn't like that kind of thought put into a gift for them? Party poopers, that's who!]
Although maybe I should've made you look more daring and heroic, if you're seriously fighting to end some kind of ten thousand year reign of terror..... Talk about intense!

Once upon a time, there was a handsome, dashing up-and-coming fighter pilot who'd find himself in a situation he could never have dreamed of...
[And so, Lance begins to tell the tale. Of he and his friends finding a huge, robotic blue lion in a cave, and him piloting it through a wormhole to the other end of the universe. Of becoming a paladin, warrior and pilot of that lion (and not long after, the red lion), which combined with four others to create a giant humanoid robot called Voltron. Fighting battle after battle to end a ten thousand year long war. He mentioned a few of the cooler adventures, like helping to save a planet with mermaids, of some of his cooler battles, of how amazing a sharpshooter he is, of how crazy it is being in such an important role.]
...and so we finally stopped Sendak--well, technically, Keith did, the kill stealer--and in the end, Earth was safe. Damaged, but safe. Things aren't over though, 'cause we've still got that evil space witch Haggar to defeat. She's the last thing standing in the way of ending all this war.

That's incredible. You all have been through more than I could ever imagine doing.
[They could even exist in the same universe, for all he knows--it isn't like they've really managed to explore space yet. Wouldn't it be wild (not to mention terrifying, considering the circumstances of those adventures) if they did?]

[Lance isn't necessarily bitter about it, but...it does bother him sometimes. They were all still kids. Pidge was fourteen, for christ's sake. Still, the universe needed Voltron. Voltron needed its paladins. And either by accident or fate, they fit the bill.]
But still, aside from the fighting, it's really neat to go to other planets and meet all these different people and species and cultures and stuff, y'know? I've seen more than I ever thought I would.

[He wonders what his own life might have been like, sometimes. Maybe he'd be a mediocre trainer in a boring dead-end job, wishing he could stretch his wings and see the world. Maybe he'd be happily married and raising a loving family of his own. Maybe he'd be a movie star and have nothing to do with Pokémon at all. Who knows? It's all a roll of the dice, in some ways--but losing that potential without choosing to give it up yourself can really sting, if you let yourself dwell on it.]
