[ Video ]

[ video starts and Mina looks very much annoyed; behind her is Katsuki is staring blankly into space and if someone is to look closer, they are actually in jail.

Guess who tried to go over the wall! That's right, these two dumbasses climbed the wall and tried to get out and the native robots finally got tired of their shenanigans and decided to arrest them for the night. Mina is not happy; Katuski is too stunned to speak and this is a huge mess ]

They actually arrested us! This is cruelty! [ Mina waves her hands, which means she waves the communicator, but eventually she remembers to stop ] We just wanted to help, this is no fair!

[Finally, Mina's voice gets Katsuki to snap out of it. The light returns to his eyes, along with his anger, and he stands up while snarling. He won't allow any shitty robots to ruin his record!] Stop talking and help me break out of this stupid cell. Who the fuck arrests their heroes?! I'LL KILL THEM!!!

You'd be surprised. Have you ever heard of "phantom thieves"?

[It didn't even have to be the specific ones he knew. It was just a generalized question, considering that they were hardly the first to use the phantom thief idea.]

I suppose that's a matter of opinion really. Phantom Thieves are generally a person or group of people who want to bring about reform somehow. They tend to steal things for a specific reason as a way to generally do something good. Although the stories I've come across very, there's some sort of common goal. They go about their objective in secrecy to expose wrongdoings at a later time. Calling cards seem to be a common thing, warning the target it will happen prior to or sometimes after the fact.

The Phantom Thieves I'm familiar with tend to send a calling card prior to stealing their "treasure". Their goal is to reform a corrupt society and make the world a better place, but despite how noble their intentions tend to be, it makes it no less than a crime in the end.

Needless to say, the leader has been arrested twice at this point. And yet he seems to be the savior that everyone has learned to look up to.

[Sometimes. Public opinion was fickle on occasion.]

It's intriguing, is it not? Perhaps it's a rite of passage for a hero to serve jail time for trying to do the right thing?

You're not entirely wrong about that. It's a matter of public opinion. Public opinion can be fickle and change on a dime. One moment they're supporting you, the next they hate you. It comes with fame. [One he actually knows first hand.] Considering the impact that they had, it's hard to discount their efforts anything less than heroic when they technically saved the world. [Or so he's been told. He wasn't around for the finale.]

Never underestimate public perception. It's a powerful tool, even if it is flawed at times.

Admittedly, that was past my time, so I only know what I've been told. I did look into it a bit, but circumstances kept me from really knowing firsthand. The entire concept as to how they saved the world might sound a bit strange to most people.

Let's just say I used to be one of those "Phantom Thieves", but not exactly in league with them. It's a bit complicated. Basically from what I've had to dig up myself, people were put into real danger and acted no better than these metal tin cans.

[A pause on that.]

Actually no... I take that back. They were worse than these tin cans. These robots at least seem to have emotions and some sort of artificial intelligence. The people back home had no desire to live their own lives and were okay with someone else calling the shots so that they didn't have to make any decisions themselves.
