What is your favourite colour?
[No hello. No 'how do you do?'. Aerith is sat at home on her sofa, legs crossed and a rather serious expression on her face.
This is Very Serious Business.]
Colour! Everyone has a favourite, right? I want to know everyone's!
And your favourite food. Flavour. Uhm... what kind of weather do you like? What kind of music do you like? Do you like to dance? Can you dance? What about singing?
Do you like animals? What kind? What is your absolutely favourite animal? Why is that? Is it because they're cute or fierce? Are they like you?
[There's a small pause, the serious, determined look fades to a softer one and a smile.]
Can you tell me about your world? What's it like there? I've never seen an ocean, have you? Are they as wide and blue as they say?
[The smile is a grin now, coupled with a laugh.]
These are all really important questions I need to know about everyone! So please answer truthfully!
[Aerith has decided, in her Infinite Wisdom, that there are still lots of people she doesn't know and things she doesn't know about them and feels this is the perfect way to get to know everyone!]

Orange polka-dots?
Ah! I know! Black and white stripes! Right?
[She's also grinning, her tone very much playful and teasing.]
Video;
Let's see... I don't really have favorite weather or music. Good weather is always nice though. [And to the dancing and singing...] I wouldn't know. I haven't really tried. [To both of the options.]
[But the mention of favorite animal is easy enough, if a summon counts. Pulling up his grimoire to summon his carbuncle, he put it back in place and reached for it as it hopped into his arms to show her.]
I'd say carbuncles are probably my favorite animal; if they count. They're very affectionate.
I don't mind talking about Eorzea, but we may be here for a while if you don't have specific questions in mind.
[That covered most of that... right?]

[Some of the questions are red herrings to disguise her real motives, but she also really does want to know these things and listens with open interest.
When his little friend jumped up onto his arm though, Aerith's eyes lit up and her smile widened.]
What a pretty creature! A carbuncle, you say?
I'm really interested in hearing about other worlds. If you have time, sometime, I'd love to hear your stories.
no subject
[Who's this pretty lady on his feed. Carbungle seems interested in what's going on as it tilts his head in curiosity, staying still in his arms for the time being.]
He's technically a summon, but he's a wonderful companion.
Well, there's no shortage of stories, that's for sure. I -- myself -- am not from Eorzea initially, but it's certainly dear to me regardless.
no subject
[He can't fathom why anyone would care about favorite colors or food, unless she planned to do something with that information. It's not like you could use someone's favorite color against them...?]
Black. [Duh.] And I've seen a couple oceans. [He can't remember any of the questions in-between.]
no subject
I've never seen an ocean. I've always wanted to but I never had the chance.
[Her smile softens.]
Maybe one day?
no subject
[He's a poet, truly. They also reminded him of someone back home, and a particularly painful time of his life. So...bleh.]
Maybe. I wonder if this world has any oceans. [And if they were inhabited and unpoisoned.]
no subject
Big with lots of water. That does sound like an ocean!
And maybe there is? Wouldn't that be interesting?
no subject
It's my understanding there's a ton of fish too, but I try not to go in the water.
[A nod.] If there are birds out there, it's possible things could have survived below the sea.
no subject
[Even with tonnes of fish nibbling at her toes.]
We can only hope. Maybe somewhere out there there is life?
no subject
[As far as he knows, Poseidon hasn't tried to kill him (and he spent the first part of his childhood in a city built right on the water), but why tempt fate? Gods were temperamental at the best of times.]
There must be. Even if what's out there is mostly monsters - that's still life.
no subject
[Aerith's tone was one of shock and maybe a little anger. What kind of god would harm a child? That wasn't right at all. And if she ever met these gods she would give them a piece of her mind. How dare they!
She gave a shake of her head.]
Yes, though I hope, for this planets sake, there is more life than just monsters.
no subject
[Said like it's just a Thing That Happens. Though it wasn't so long ago (relatively speaking) that Zeus tried to kill him and and his sister. Or that Hades retaliated and tried to kill Zeus' daughter.]
Those birds that came through... That seems hopeful.
no subject
[Her head shook and the shock remained in her tone. How could a god harm a child of all things?
At the mention of birds, Aerith's gaze instinctually rose and a hand moved to her hair. A soft pink tint rose to her cheeks and she laughed.]
Right. Those. It's hard to tell, don't you think? There are so many strange things that happen here, maybe the birds just... appeared? Chocolate rain is hardly normal, after all.
video
He has to go back and rewatch to note down all her questions. And then-]
A few years ago, I might have said blue for my favorite color. Now, I think I like green best.
Chocolate is my favorite flavor, I like fair weather you get in spring. I, honestly, never really thought too much about my favorite music. Undertaker and I just enjoy sitting and listening to music together. I'm not very good at dancing though and I can't sing for the life of me.
[SO MANY QUESTIONS! Give him a moment while he goes back through the video to see what else there was.]
Dogs but I've only ever had dogs. My father kept a guard dog when I was young but he always picked on me. Looking back, I suppose Sebastian was looking after me in his own way.
no subject
Chocolate is a good flavour and green is a really good colour!
I like spring too. It's a beautiful time of year, I think.
Though... you had a guard dog that picked on you?
no subject
[He gives a little nod but smiles.]
I was very sickly when I was young. I inherited my mothers fairer constitution and I think Sebastian knew that. So when he'd see me pulling a chair out to watch out the windows or if I ran around too much, he would pull at my clothing and jab his nose into my back. He was never terribly mean though.
I sometimes wonder if my father had him trained to do that. He never did it to- well, I was the only one he did that too.
no subject
Oh, I see. [She smiled, it sounded to her that this Sebastian had been looking after his young master in the only way he could. It was sweet.]
He sounds like a very good dog. I hope you have him a lot of treats and pets for keeping you safe?
Video
I like blue! But green is a good color, too, and so's yellow. I like King Pudding! It's my number one favorite food! I'll eat pretty much anything sweet, though. I like sunny weather, means you can go out and do all kinds of things outside.
[Her next questions are particularly relevant, and as he goes to answer them he perks up a little extra.] I can sing and dance! I'm an idol back in my world, so me an' the rest of my group sing and dance for a living. My partner's here too so if you wanted to hear us sing I bet I could get him to sing with me!
[And gosh would he like to keep talking about ~entertaining~ but there are more questions that are in dire need of answers.] I like animals, I dunno if I have a favorite, though. [He crosses his arms, sitting back and tilting his head as he thinks it over.] Cats are cute? So are rabbits. I don't know what kind of animal I'm like, I guess not really like either of those, though.
My world's pretty normal, I think? There isn't anything like monsters or magic, but we do have oceans. I went to Okinawa the summer before I got here, and me and the others got to hang out at the beach and go swimming. It was a lot of fun!
no subject
[Giving him the widest and happiest of of smiles, pleased to have those answers. They were so interesting to listen to and she was fascinated. So she, of course, had questions of her own.]
Those are lovely colours, but what's a King Pudding?
I'd love to hear you sing! [Her excitement over that was enough to make her bounce a little. An idol, he said? A singer? That sounded so fun!]
Your normal and my own are very different. My world does have monsters and magic, which is normal. And I am sure we have oceans too, I just have never seen one... But I hope to, one day. And maybe a beach. And I can swim in the ocean too!
no subject
King Pudding is - ! [Oh, hang on, he leans in to pick up his communicator and walk with it, moving to a different room while he replies.] It's the best! [Not... helpful... Tamaki] I've got it in my kitchen's replicator, lemme just... [He fiddles around with something offscreen, likely said replicator, and waits for it to finish its business. Maybe? He can explain? While that plays out??] It's a sweet snack, from my home world. [There we go.]
Awesome! I can go look for Sou-chan in a bit, but I can sing on my own if I don't find him, too. [A good plan either way, really.]
There are a bunch of different 'normals', I guess. I know someone who came from a world that was a lot like mine, pretty much the same, but a little different? But I also know someone who came from a world that had robot-teachers and fight-schools. But if your oceans are like my oceans, then it'll be super worth the wait.
[And, hey! It looks like his off-screen business is finished, and he pulls a glass filled with a flan-like pudding into view. There we go!] This is King Pudding.
The best color and weather depend on the situation, right? Like sunny skies when you're in a good mood, snow when you feel like huddling down for a while, black for a mature lady's dress and pastel pink for a little girl--that kind of thing!
[ What a long way to say you don't have a favorite, Kyoko, jeez. ]
My favorite food is hamburger steak with a fried egg on top! I can dance a little, but I never learned to sing, and lately my favorite thing to listen to is cello music.
I like animals! Cute ones like puppies and kittens! But I have to really admire apex predators too...
[ Her gaze goes just the tiniest bit distant as the topic of home comes up. ]
I got to visit the beach in Guam once... It was even bigger, more deeply blue than I'd imagined--TV just can't capture it.
Did I answer them all properly?
no subject
Mmhm, you answered them all properly! Thank you.
That's all really good information. But apex predators? And what's a Guam?
no subject
Oh, Guam is an island! A kinda small one, but big enough for people to live there.
