In my old culture, it was something you chose for yourself based on a lot of things. Where you're from, what sort of person you are, who your family is. Sometimes it's on a whim. There doesn't have to be a rhyme or reason for it, really.
Names are as flexible as people themselves- if you pick something you don't like, you can always change it later. If it feels right, keep it.
I didn't find it hard, but I may have just been lucky to hear a word I liked so quickly.
Plants, animals, colours, minerals, weather, all things of nature, places, objects... There are all different kinds of names. It's okay if you don't find the perfect one for you right away.
