Hey new world! I'm Teo! Just got here. I'm from Earth, but from my last world, I learned that's pretty common, and every Earth seems to be different from the others. Who's from somewhere new and who here's from Earth? And for those from Earth, what's the thing that makes it different?

I just wanted to make sure! But I guess it's good to know if an undead problem ever does crop up, we'll have an expert around to deal with it.

As far as we know, we're the first group of people besides the native folks to end up here, so they SHOULD be the same ones who got their souls transferred into robot bodies all those years ago, right? Since it's not like they could reproduce after that.

How to put other people in robot bodies, you mean? Like, one of us? I don't know... I would think so, but they probably wouldn't want to.

Still, I'd bet it could help certain people.

I guess the scientists would be the ones to ask, if you really want to, but be careful. Things have been kinda tense with them recently.

[He is absolutely not interested in speaking to scientists-- he's seen movies and how that goes-- but he still has to ask.]

What happened to make things tense?

To sum it up, last year some folks broke into an out-of-bounds place and gathered some information. Those people got caught and went to jail, but the scientists--or at least the ones in charge, I guess?--held a grudge. They wouldn't even let anyone into their safe bubbles when the giant worms attacked! Not even other locals!

(Giant worms attacked the city a few months ago, by the way.)

They ended up releasing the information they say got stolen anyway, as a PR move after that. But I don't think relations have gotten too much better since then.

[This is a lot of very serious and important information he is definitely filing away and probably sharing with Faust at that. It's deeply alarming to hear these scientists would even shut out their own. But one thing catches his focus most of all.]

Can we back up to the giant worms??

That was kinda weird of me to brush over it, huh? ^^;; Sorry! It just wasn't directly relevant to your question.

But yes, it's true! Giant worms burst up out of the ground and started eating rocks and metal, and it seemed like they really had a taste for robots! To be honest, I'm not clear on what all that was about! But in the end they got turned to stone, and it's been pretty calm ever since.

It probably would be old news after living through it.
It just took me by surprise.

I'd say it's better they eat metal than people but I think the robots would beg to differ.
Are the defences around the city to keep the worms out?

No, that's a totally natural thing to be shocked by!

The barrier is keeping out all sorts of things, it seems like, but it's hard to give a comprehensive list of what all those things are. I guess there could be more worms out there? It would make sense. But even just the air is toxic, from what I understand.

[The air is toxic. That news chills him. If he'd been unable to get anything substantial from the replicators, he would've tried going over the walls, which might not have done anything to him... but it would've done something to Faust, who might've followed.]

So no one's been out there?
It's just a toxic monster wasteland?

A few people have! But they had to wear special suits, and they couldn't be out there very long. The locals kinda don't like letting anyone out. I don't think they could help us if anything really bad happened.

I guess it is, huh? Sorry. You were so excited before.

A special suit can only help so much.

Don't worry. I'm still excited.
This place still has everything I've missed.
People, electricity, internet.
Even a bed of my own.
Things are good here.
It just means being ready.

I guess if you've got that kind of spirit, you'll be fine here no matter what. But you can definitely ask for help if you run into something beyond undead adept level! Or even if it's just something like clothes or food.

I wouldn't say nobody's jaded or paranoid at all here, but... well, I guess you'd be the best judge in comparing apocalypse attitudes.
We all have to rely on each other in one way or another, so don't worry about it!
