Hehehe, you could say that! Although Pokémon haven't been called youkai in a long time. Where I'm from, there hasn't been any warfare in a while, but nobody wanted to give up their traditions.
So we turned it into something more like a competitive sport, instead. Instead of learning how to fight at each other's sides to kill or conquer, we do it to become the best we can be, and find a way to settle our differences so nobody has to be seriously hurt. Sometimes, all it takes is showing each other your fighting spirit, and you can really come to respect and understand each other!
[Just because there's peace doesn't mean the tools and trade of war have to be thrown away. They can still be just as cherished as ever, even if they're now used to help bring friendship and happiness. Nice, isn't it?]
