Sorry to be a bother, everyone, but if I'm not mistaken, this month amounts to about November on Earth. So I thought I might start considering Christmas.

I haven't many friends here so I haven't many things to get really but my idea for one of them requires some help. And time. If anyone can sew, make a blanket with a design, I would appreciate your assistance. And you will, of course, be compensated.

Oh, a Miko is... she serves the kami. The the... gods! She tends the shrines, and helps the sick, and purifies evil!

Sounds almost like a nun. Not quite the same, but more or less the same.

Rin knows a few Miko, but you need spiritual power to really be a proper Miko, and Rin doesn't have that.

I'm not one for anything spiritual myself, really, but as far as I could guess, wouldn't everyone have spiritual power? What would be the point of praying or paying respects to any kind of God otherwise?

Oh no, you can tell the real ones because of their power. You don't have to have a lot of power, but if you don't have any, the youkai will probably eat you?

That's what I mean. If you don't need to have a lot, couldn't anyone be a miko? And you're young, how do you know you can't be one?

Oh no, Rin doesn't have any spiritual power. [ She says cheerfully ] And people know, if you aren't real! You'll wind up dead.

That's excessive. And I'm sure I can't believe that. You're young yet, most people don't learn their own skill or passions until they're older. I know plenty of adults who are mostly useless still.

Youkai can be like that though. If you challenge them, you'd better be able to stand up, or most of them will eat you! Although some of the REALLY powerful ones, like Lord Sesshoumaru, tend to just walk away, if they can't be bothered to kill you.

All the more reason to study and train, then you can get strong enough to stand up to one. I bet your Lord Sesshoumaru would be proud of you then.

[ She shakes her head ] Lord Sesshoumaru doesn't want Rin to be a Demon-Slayer, he's said so. He wants Rin to train to be a healer - that's why he left Rin with Lady Kaede. He doesn't like it when Rin is in danger.

I suppose healers are always good to have. You should probably still know how to defend yourself though.

Mm, Rin supposes she will learn how to use a bow from Lady Kagome.

A bow is good. I don't think I've ever used one but I'd taken fencing lessons. [And shooting but it's definitely different enough. No need to worry about draw strength with a rifle or pistol.]
