Like thunder screaming out for a flash of lightning
[Cor's not great at this whole party thing, especially as this time it's not just a family gathering but intended for the friends they'd made here as well. The video starts with Cor sitting in a cushy white and grey striped armchair, a stone fireplace beside him glowing warmly. It's a classy set up and far above the townhouses they've been in.]
It's New Years, celebrations are in order. His Majesty, Ignis, and I have obtained a larger space and we'd like to offer our home for the festivities. Feel free to stop in, have some snacks, and await midnight with us.
[Locked from Regis]
[He looks a little paranoid at first, double, then triple checking that he's done this right.]
It's also his Majesty's birthday. He's always eager to sweep it under the New Years celebrations but he has no reason to shy away from any such celebrations here. Don't let him.
[Action - Party Start~]
[The new house is really very nice. It's nothing compared to the Citadel but it is very nice. Clean and homey with the accents of warm wood that, if Cor didn't know better, he'd have thought was reclaimed.
There's a fire in the hearth, hor d'ouerve trays laid out on the kitchen counters. The replicator is of course available to anyone who wants something specific, though you might be surprised to find she responds to voice commands and is distressingly cheerful to talk to. The house is open for examination! Go on, explore folks, mingle away.]
[Action - Midnight]
[As chill as the night is Cor makes a point of slipping through the crowd throughout the evening. There's a number of Lucis Caelums and other magic users as well. So when the time comes near he does his best to usher everyone into the backyard, or at least onto the back porch.
He's certainly not the one to lead the countdown, no someone more energetic can do that, but at the final count a series of spells get fired into the night sky. They may not be traditional fireworks but a few Flares, Thundaras, and spells he has no names for will work well enough, don't you think?]

[And, perhaps surprisingly given Cor's history using his other nickname, Regis has full faith that he will do that. After all, this is different. More personal. Something Cor picked for him and not something that everyone close to him uses.
That thought--that Cor picked this just for him--fills Regis with so much joy that he can't help but lean forward and press a gentle kiss to Cor's lips. Once done he leans back just far enough to whisper.]
A brave lion fighting to protect his 'life.' It is a very accurate description of us, I do think.

It is.
[Distantly, Cor is aware of the very reason he'd brought Regis out here. Someone had realized the time and was telling everyone to prepare for a countdown. A new year, even in this strange place it's a welcome marker of time, time he's finally able to spend with his king the way he's wanted to for so long it hurts to think of.]

He does get to linger, but when the first loudly shouted number in the countdown rings out, his attention is drawn back out to the world around them.]
It's almost time!
[It's silly how happy it makes him, but happy he is.]

It's almost impossible to resist joining in the countdown and as they do Cor draws on the other's magic, a Flare with perhaps a little charge of thunder in it, rolling the feel of the spell over his fingertips as he waits for just the right moment. Anticipation palpable in the air-
Cor does not speak a count of zero, nor does he shout out a "Happy New Year". He releases the burst of magic into the air, sparking amidst half a dozen other vibrant spells, maybe even some confetti and party poppers from those that don't have magic. He knows damn well Regis is not about to restrain himself from adding to the ruckus... but Cor only allows him a fraction of a second to release whatever spell (fira, like as not) he has at hand. Then he's using his hold on Regis' waist to jerk his friend in against his chest, leaning in to kiss him, swift and hard as the sky lights up around them.
It's a tradition, after all, one he's dreamed of fulfilling for decades.]

Regis gives into the kiss as if it is the most natural thing in the world, a world that fades away almost completely except for a small part of his mind that wonders just how long Cor has wanted to do this for. How many years had he watched and needed?
He wraps an arm around Cor's waist, while his other hand raises so he can brush his knuckles over Cor's cheek. Once the kiss ends, he can't help but whisper.]
I'm sorry for making you wait so long.

You didn't...
[Cor had made that choice.
He knew Regis would argue though, think too much instead of just sinking into the moment, even as Era's phoenix soars overhead. Cor brushes another light kiss to his lips and coaxes Regis to turn around, wrapping both arms around his waist, letting his King have an unobstructed view of the fading lights. The wonderful thing about it mostly being spells is that they linger far longer than traditional fireworks.]

I love you, my lion. So very much. Thank you for everything.
