[Good morning Havenwell! A chipper little guy (a Pokemon or something?!) is waving into the camera some time a bit before lunch on this fine Lasra day.]
Hello to my fellow Havenwell citizens~! It's me, Magolor. You may have heard of me already! The natives of our beautiful city called me your emissary, and I take their words very seriously! When I feel like it.
[Smile.]
Hehehe, just kidding! I'll get to the point now that I've introduced myself. I really do care about closing the culture and knowledge gap between us offworlders and the natives. Since we're going to be living here for a while and they owe us so much, it's only right that everyone's as comfortable, happy, and informed as possible. That's my job!
I'm going to pay the council another visit soon, so all I'm asking of you is that you chip in with anything you'd like me to either pass along or investigate. What do you really wish the natives knew about taking better care of us? What do you reeeeally wish we knew about whatever's going on here? Pass it along to me, and I'll pass it along to them and get the conversation started! Last time they listened to our requests and put some real work into fixing up the food replicators, but by now I think we've all got some more important concerns to pass along, huh?
Anyhoo, you can respond to this message if you have any input. Or, if you'd rather things be off the record and a little more personal, I encourage you to come meet me today at Petals & Pages! I'll be there waiting for anyone who wants to chat. The couches are super comfy! Major shout-out to Vianca, the second-tiniest entrepreneur!
[He's the tiniest, duh. Not counting Vianca's plant self. He's being a good boy and not mentioning that about her!]
Laaaast thing: I'm going to see if I can't get another look at those archives we were all working in a few months back, so let me know if there's anything you'd like me to keep an eye out for when I do. Even I can't read an entire library at once. All right, I've blabbed enough! Come drop by for a chat! Or embrace cold technology and reply to me here. ♥ Bye byeee~.
(( There is no log post to go with this network post; instead, have a mingle toplevel! Feel free to reply here or there as you and your character prefer \o/ ))

Whaaaat, are you worried about me?
[Way to not answer the question.]
no subject
[ he's not shy about admitting that. ]
What's wrong?
no subject
He holds onto Reyson's arm, but he looks away and drops his veil of perkiness, grumbling.]
. . . You don't need to go so far as to worry about me or anything. I'm obviously doing pretty well for myself here.
no subject
There is nothing obvious about it for me. And I must ask. I must go that far. I rather take that opportunity than to miss it forever.
no subject
[His ears flatten, and he makes a face. But an empath who can tell he's beginning to slip into depression can probably also tell that he isn't actually displeased: he's touched, and awkward, and very embarrassed. It's not often that Magolor has to handle someone genuinely caring about his personal wellbeing. And it turns out he doesn't quite know how to do so honestly. Reyson is so earnest . . . what do you even do with that?
But he doesn't let go.]
Fine. I guess you could say I'm bored, or something like that. Restless . . . I dunno.
no subject
It is strange to be in a place without conflict. Without risk.
no subject
He hums it over.]
As far as that goes, something's coming. I really think something's coming! I've been hearing murmurs here and there of things under the surface. But something's not right about even that. Maybe it's just that butting into the tragic backstories of my captors out of boredom isn't my style, and digging up anything is slow and hard work.
no subject
You've never said much of what you did before coming here.
no subject
[Kind of. He likes some talking about himself, in controlled circumstances, but boy does he love it in those. He can do his best to make this one of them.]
I've done a lot of this and that. I'm a traveler, so I sail the sea of stars wherever I decide to go, and what I do depends on where I am! Most recently I even went on a heroic adventure. I wouldn't say that's my inclination, though. Before that I was a humble shopkeeper, and before that I was in the entertainment business.
[And before that—well, he goes no further back than that.
But his mood lifts a little at the conversation.]
no subject
Were you searching for something in particular?
no subject
[He titters and waves his hand. Halcandra isn't the prettiest planet in the universe, that's for sure. The thought of Reyson there is actually pretty depressing.]
no subject
Then it must be hard to be stuck here.
no subject
[But again, he feels weak saying it. It's true and all; there's so much going on that he doesn't understand yet, and he wants to. There's so much more social ladder to climb! And yet making progress isn't fulfilling. Mmmmm.]
no subject
[ he taps on magolor's chest delicately. ]
But perhaps you should confront your soul. What do you want for you?
no subject
[Read: a very neat and tidy way to avoid ever interrogating too deeply what he truly wants. The answer is pat and ready, too. But he's just a touch self-deprecating about his overall lack of satisfaction.]
no subject
You haven't named a particular whim yet, though. Everything you have said is rather vague.
no subject
[Reyson!! He's too good at seeing through Magolor . . . how did things get like that, anyway? Magolor sure hadn't expected it when they met. He scratches at one of his ears.]
You just want to know something I want, is that it?
no subject
And perhaps naming such a thing will help you as well.
no subject
[A stock joke answer he's given people more than once, his go-to—
Though it's interesting. Of course he rattled it off without thinking, because it's his standard dumb joke. But it's a leftover joke from when he was a shopkeeper; here it's not really possible for his business to be "good." He doesn't have customers. The reward is the slow burn gain of status and trust in the community, to be used however he sees fit later once he's established, and he does want that. Of course he does! That's why he chose this path!
But in the meantime, he doesn't exactly get to have "happy customers" outside of occasional events like the food tasting. Maybe he misses that a little.]
—Not that I'm selling anything these days. It's a little weird.
no subject
So you want a business. To establish yourself here as someone of prestige and renown.
[ reyson mulls over this. ]
Perhaps you should run as "mayor". I believe that is a thing the humans do.
no subject
[He's sure this must be some of the issue by now. Magolor has played the long game for most of his life, and in a sense he's doing it again now in his emissary role . . . but maybe he's gotten a little spoiled and bored in the meantime.]
no subject
Such as praise? . . . Presents?
no subject
[He nuzzles obnoxiously against Reyson's side, batting his eyes up at him.]
no subject
You give more than you believe. You work hard. And you do not repay kindness with cruelty.
no subject
[Geez. He flushes a little and looks away again. Praise like that is . . .
Well, he at least hasn't repaid kindness with cruelty recently.]
