I have various jobs available. Pay will be reasonable for each.

1. I require a competent bodyguard to assist me with an expediton into the new territory.

2. I require someone who has video equipment and can assist with setting up and monitoring a live feed.

3. I need one writer. Preferably one that specializes in stories for kindergarten aged children. Unfortunately, beyond "The Little Emperor That Could" its following series, my repertoire of children's stories is lacking.

Update to the request for a writer: I will pay 20 dora for each well-constructed story, reading level beginner. I'm seeking approximately 20 to 30 stories at this level.

There does seem to be a lack of such materials here already.

Your concern was toward having readings available for some of the younger ones that may get brought here, then. I know there were a few, but... I have not heard from them in some time.

Not all appear to remain. However, they often haven't been staying in one spot very well, either. We may need to establish more consistent housing for children, to keep better track of them.

A woman named Aqua had begun to prepare for that eventuality earlier on... but she is one of those who has vanished as well.

There is also the factor that most of these children have been very independent in their lives, or lived not wanting to burden others. They seemed wary of adults... it does not help that we are all strangers to them, when they arrive.

I remember her.

It is not my area of expertise, but I may be able to assist. We should prepare ahead of time.

Her home may have already been set up with supplies for that purpose, though I do not believe she had yet found a larger residence before she had vanished.

However... perhaps it would be best to enlist those with more expertise in such areas for better advice before embarking on such a decision, particularly asking those who are more familiar with... having recently been a child, what they would find more welcoming. From those I had encountered here and having witnessed their behavior, even if a promise of safety is provided, they may not take to it. Especially if they are used to being left to their own devices.

I suppose I can understand that. I was quite independent as a child, but I still took advantage of opportunities offered to me. Perhaps we should set aside job opportunities more suited for children as well. After all, I worked in the army, but they hardly sent me into the front lines of battle.

As long as it is their choice.

We are not an army, and thus jobs are not even required for the adults, here, with the economy so reliant upon touch. Perhaps it may help them to have a sense of... productivity. Most complains seem to stem from of a lack of intellectual and recreational pursuits as well...

Still, such matters are complex, dependent upon the circumstances from which they arrive. We do know that to be varied for all of us.

I'm afraid it's difficult for me to empathize with that. I've had all too much to do while here.

I can continue to work on school materials. I will take into consideration leaving space open for a young assistant should it be necessary. There's no reason to allow growing minds to atrophy from disuse.

When one's mind is primed toward taking on new tasks or creating them, it is a different view from those who are used to being directed or guided or... simply having other means of living.

The creation of such materials would not be remiss. You do seem intent on having a responsibility toward providing that for others.

I suppose it's my natural inclination as a researcher. One does not simply research and hide the information. The majority is to be shared with the world.

Save, of course, research meant for military advancements.

And for the next generation to understand it they need to be properly educated. Not providing an education would be akin to devaluing my own work. After all, it won't be very long-lived if there is no one around who can understand it.

It's strange to me to think that one can be dropped in an alien world and not find a myriad of mysteries to unravel. I admit, I did not have the benefits of space nor dimensional travel that others have had previous to our time here, but even in those circumstances I would imagine that one should have thousands of questions about our predicament.

That is fair enough. If you are working hard and are willing to share your knowledge, others will have the opportunity to gain from that.

Some may simply be too preoccupied with their own... personal concerns, as much as being brought here is a commonality for us all. There is much to adjust to. It might only satisfy them to know someone is asking the questions, if they have not yet been able to seek answers themselves.

... Do not only take my words for it, however. The more inquiries you make, perhaps others will come to speak up more regularly.

Hmm. Speaking of inquiries, I had thought before that it might be a good idea to open a guild for the scientists we have available. While I feel quite comfortable in my field, there are innumerable areas to specialize in. I'd like to gather what knowledge we have available, and have a better idea of whom we can turn to in various situations.

Our contact has been limited, but I would presume that you have held a prestigious title or two in your time?

Knowledge between worlds and even universes can vary. I have held titles as a leading researcher, but it is not my inclination to use them.

My field has focused upon energy research; for the most part, you may consider that related to refining and creating more effective processing systems, and designing the technological improvements to house them.

So essentially increasing the efficiency of current technology?

Essentially, or designing new methods to improve upon those, I suppose.

There is still much to learn about the technology here and how it has developed over time. Their scientists are less... lenient with that information, without significant trust.

Yes, I have encountered such resistance myself. It can be quite frustrating when you're prevented from working on something that you know you are capable of solving.

Though, considering their continued work on certain early experiments, it may be that they don't want us to know what other experiments are also still in the works.

That was a consideration I have held as well.

It does say much, that their earliest records of those experiments seemed to have been discarded or lost to time until we had uncovered them. Many of them may not have been possible without... new activity in the world.

It appears they attempted to reverse the process after it was completed. However, they had no samples left to use by the time they determined that they had made a mistake.

Having done work in this field, I understand it well. I developed a process for cloning meat myself. However, I had samples to start with.

I have considered that we may be the samples that they need.

The records had also seemed to indicate that there had been a disaster during the last time they made the attempts. In all we have seen so far of their buildings, one wonders where that location may have been.

We do not yet know if they have already assessed us for the required biological data they may need prior to our waking up, or if that will be a future intention. As it stands we do not know their motives or how far they will go to reverse the state they are currently in.

As it stands, they still require us for their... energy reserves, so even if the thought of testing for those experiments comes to their minds, this is still the higher priority for them, lest they squander and lose more of us.

It troubles me that I have yet to find how our action provide energy for them. It's nonsensical.

The fact remains that this world relies on contact for energy.

While it is newly generated it travels separately... and then unifies. It is evident that they must have had some amounts preserved, before the necessity of involving those from other universes. We do not know for certain how long it took the citizens to realize their mistakes with their advances, but they do seem reaffirmed in their spiritual connection to these gods.

You have been able to detect the energy?

Yes. Much else about it has remained illusive of course, but while I understand your frustration, we must consider that it does not and will not follow the laws of a known universe.

We remain far from knowing the laws that define it, beyond the basic principle of what is required for generating it. Perhaps we can only seek patterns in what we have experienced. Especially to note how the natives react; certain happenings may reflect past circumstances that have occurred in this world already.

This is the first I have heard of this. [And he's very interested in knowing more. He's willing to update his opinions when new information comes to light.]

What method of detection did you use?

My abilities have made it possible, although it has taken time and effort to achieve.
