Hello! If we haven't met, my name is Kyoko Mogami!

I noticed the research center is offering money for new recipes, but it seems like they want it to be some kind of team effort? In any case, I already had some notes written up about some of the dishes I've been able to make satisfactorily since I got here, so if anybody would like to help me with the taste testing and descriptions, I can neaten up those recipes for submission. And of course we would split the compensation!

Oh, but I've also gotten some additions to my replicator since I wrote down those other recipes, so I can do a lot more now! So far I have kombu, bonito flakes, miso, soy sauce, sake, and tofu! So if you want to try something that's not in the notes, just tell me what it is! Nikujaga would be nice, right?

[ This time Sasuke does what he's told, bringing his side-dish and Mr. Tori's dish (and Mr. Tori) over with him to the table.

Soup Triumph and more is to be had. ]

[ True to her word, Kyoko dishes everything up swiftly and delivers it with all the smooth cheer hammered into her from years of waiting tables--though she doesn't have a tray here, so it does take a couple trips. But everything is laid out in short order, from steaming bowls of rice and soup, to side dishes, and even a little dish of pickled cabbage and carrots. Soon, she's beaming gently over the table. ]

Okay!! Anything to drink?

[ Oh oops, customer service voice. ]

[ And just like the first time he came over to Kyoko's, his answer is simple. ]

Just some tea or water.

[ Sasuke looks over the spread. It's been so long since he's seen so much food laid out and food that looks like it could have been made at home. The closest he's been to home in months.

He'll wait until Kyoko sits down before dishing up some food for Mr. Tori. ]

[ And just like she would at home, Kyoko disappears into the kitchen, to reappear quickly. It's just water this time--she wouldn't want to make him feel obliged to wait while she prepares tea. Hot food should be eaten while it's hot!

Drinks served, she sits down across from Sasuke and smiles. ]

Well then! Thank you for sharing this meal with me~! Let's think hard together about how to describe miso soup!

[ Sasuke clasps his hands together and gives the customary start to the meal. Then he starts putting a little of every dish onto Mr. Tori's plate. Mr. Tori is well mannered enough at the table to wait until he finishes before pecking at his meal.

The ninja takes a sip of the miso with his eyes closed, letting his other senses take priority. ]

It's more than the salty flavor. The heat is soothing, and a good broth gives it a depth of flavor. It can stand on its own or be used to contrast other ingredients put in it. It's... light but also filling at the same time....

... Do you think the recipe should mention it's traditionally sipped from the bowl and not a spoon?

[ Sasuke's actions are mirrored naturally across the table; Kyoko sips slowly, though she opens her eyes before he does, a soft smile pulling at her mouth as she watches him. ]

... That does kinda affect the experience doesn't it? It means it's more important that the scent isn't overwhelming, and the broth has to be light enough to go down smoothly. Those are important factors.

If it's too thick, there's probably way too much miso. Or too many other ingredients.

[ He takes another sip and swirls the soup in his bowl. The miso mixes more with the broth. ]

Flavorful but not rich or overwhelming?

[ Kyoko nods seriously, taking another sip for more Miso Soup Studies. ]

You should hardly notice the fermented taste from the miso.... The whole experience should be savory... but gentle.

[ With a sigh, she sets the bowl down to go for a bite of rice, smiling before she lifts it to her mouth. ]

Ah, thank goodness I have such a dedicated scholar here with me!

I still don't know about being a scholar, but I'm glad I've given you some ideas.

[ It does seem that they've come up with ways to describe miso soup for the recipe, so Sasuke eats a bit of the other foods. These flavors are all so close to home.

Just enjoy the treat. Who knows when he'll be able to have something like this again with his basic replicator. But then he ends up moving in with Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Misuri who have extras on their replicator. ]

[ And she'll be sending him away with enough ingredients to tide him over until then, most likely! See, this isn't special at all.

[ They were just focusing on the miso soup and not every dish made. Although... ]

Would you like a rabbit or a mouse? I think it has Mr. Tori's approval.

[ He means the hard boiled eggs he decorated. ]

[ Excuse you, the Miso Soup Authority is paid handsomely in soup.

But ah, the eggs! Kyoko leans forward, eyes lit with interest. ]

Can I have one? They're so cute though, it's almost a shame to eat them.

[ True! Being paid is soup is a good wage. ]

I can always make more, and it would be a shame for them to go to waste.

[ Or for Mr. Tori to stuff himself with. ]

Then, I want a rabbit~! If Mr. Tori will agree to it.

[ She wants his approval! So eager to please this bird! ]

[ Mr. Tori stops pecking at his food to caw at Kyoko. ]

I think that's not only a yes but a recommendation.

[ One egg rabbit with carrot ears and details is placed on her plate. ]

[ Kyoko giggles a cheery thank you~ to both bird and master, before taking a neat bite. ]

[ Sasuke could remind her that it's just a boiled egg, but he keeps his mouth shut about it. He'll just place the plate closer to her in case she'd like another and return to eating his meal. ]
