Video: CW: Language
[A disheveled middle aged man's face appears on the screen looking incredibly over it. Whatever 'it' is, he's been done with it since Friday and there's no end in sight. There's a large smear of chocolate running from just about his ear on his left side down his neck and along one side of a red hoodie he's wearing.]
Dammit! Damn this place and those creepy bears from god-knows-what! Where the hell am I? Voidtreckers, if you can hear me, my communicator isn't connecting me to the train!

[Tony's cut off as he spots another bear gang down the street and moves quickly to an alley out of sight.]
What is this place?

[Regis shakes his head. This is the second time the newcomer has mentioned that name, so it must be of some importance. It just means nothing to him.]
My home is a planet called Eos. I'm afraid I don't know anything about this team you've mentioned.
no subject
Eos? Is that.. we're not..
[He frowned. He replayed the scene with the robot and was certain it hadn't said anything about Eos or Insomnia.]
Do you know Ignis Scientia?
no subject
There? No, Havenwell is a far cry from there, unfortunately.
[Or fortunately, depending on one's view of things.]
I do. He's a good friend of my son's or will be at least, depending on what point in the timeline you are from. My name is Regis Lucis Caelum CXIII.
[He tilts his head slightly out of habit.]
If you know of Ignis, does that mean you know of my son, Noctis as well?
no subject
Yes, I've.. well.. are you familiar with multiple universes?
[He rubbed his face, not really wanting to have to explain all of this but it wouldn't make sense otherwise.]
I've met two versions of him.
no subject
Before I came here? No, I did not, but these kinds of places tend to teach crash courses in multiple universes. Both Gladio and Prompto were someplace besides Eos before they were brought here.
[Two different versions of his son? While accepting multiple universes isn't so hard in the abstract, thinking about more than one version of his son is a little harder.]
Dare I ask how old he was during those meetings?
[Look, he's about three back home. Seeing him as an adult is still weird to Regis.]
no subject
Kid grew up on ya, didn't he? I've been dreading and also hoping that might happen to me someday.
[Mainly the 'seeing them again' part.]
He was early twenties when I met him- just a couple years younger than Ignis who I knew much better. Don't take this wrong but.. is your Noct blind?
no subject
He's three in the time I am from. Seeing him suddenly so much closer to my age was something of a shock to say the least.
[Of course, suddenly that age jump doesn't seem so surprising. Not compared to what the newcomer says next. Noctis...blind? The mere thought of it makes Regis' heart drop through the floor and causes his face to pale. How had that...]
No.
[His voice cracks slightly and Regis swallows to clear it.]
He's not. What happened?
no subject
Mine just turned five. How old are you here compared to him?
[Oh. Oh shit.. Crap! He raised a hand and shook his head.]
If he's not here then don't worry about it. There was one I met who was and one who wasn't. Both were good, strong, young men.
[Could he fake another Care Bear attack?]
no subject
I suppose it depends on how you count time spent on another world. When I first arrived, I was actually from a time before he was born. After falling into a coma here, I spent several years at home, before returning at the age of 33. I have had a total of two birthdays here-one before going back home and one after.
[Does that make him 35 now? Is he making things too complicated? Probably, but he's still trying to figure out how this all works. It's clear the newcomer has a much better grasp of things than he does considering how quickly he pivots away from the mention of that blind Noctis. Still, this is Regis' son they are talking about. Even if he did have a good grip of things, it would be hard for him to shift topics so easily.]
I am glad to hear it.
[He still sounds a little shaken, but it's obvious he is trying to push passed it.]
There is a lot of pain already awaiting him in the future. It seems flat out cruel to add blindness to that, though I know he would sacrifice his sight and more willingly if he had to.
[Perhaps that is why the idea struck him so hard.]
no subject
[He made a time machine, so he takes this stuff seriously. Plus, it was kind of fun to debate that kind of abstract science. Something told him this man might not be into nanotechnology and astrophysics.
Either way, he does feel bad for upsetting the man.]
So I've heard. I'm sorry for asking but I didn't want to assume and..
[Make an ass of himself? Too late.]
Anyway, I know he has some pretty incredible friends to rely on. Not to mention, I've done more impossible things than give a blind person their sight back.

I had been here three months when we got to the time of year that seemed to coincide with my birthday. It's on the New Year back home and it was the New Year here as well. Two months later, I went home for five years and when I awoke only five days had passed here. The first of last month, my birthday arrived again.
[So, if they followed his logic, then Regis would be 35. Probably. Maybe it would just be easier to stop counting.
The apology draws an understanding smile to Regis' face and he accepts gratefully.]
You are a father, so I know you understand how hard it is not to react to certain things, but it is better to ask with so many variables at play.
[Interestingly enough, he seems quite willing to leave it at that. Especially with that last statement catching his attention.]
Have you now? Does that make you a doctor or a scientist?
[Do they finally have someone besides Verstael to turn to for experimental projects?]
no subject
[He smirked playfully. He then nodded, glad that they could move on from his stupid question. He might be smiling and joking with Regis now, but he still felt every bit of that exhaustion and stress he'd arrived with.]
Yes.
[Another smirk.]
I have several PhD's, which make me a doctor. However, I specialize in technology and science rather than biology.
[Could he still run mental circles around most medical interns? Yes, yes he could. It just wasn't his area of expertise, unless you believe it when he brags *everything* is his area of expertise.]
no subject
[There is a moment where Regis almost looks hurt and then he laughs.]
You're an observant one, aren't you? Fortunately for him, he did take after his mother. She was the better looking of the two of us there is no doubt about that. Of course, I am biased.
[He will also talk about her all day if given the chance so it is probably better there is another topic to discuss.]
How wonderful! Once you settle in, if you wish to pursue some of that, I can suggest a few people for you to get in touch with. There are a great many things we are still trying to find out about this world.
[Of course, Regis will understand if he wants to do something completely different too. The life of a normal shopkeeper has been something of a blessing after spending his life as royalty. He feels less tired somehow even with all he has found out about the future.
And this man does seem quite tired. How long has it been since he last saw his family?]
no subject
[He smirked, a playful light on his face. It turns into a bright grin when Regis recognizes the joked. It was a married guy joke, the kids listening in wouldn't understand.
Sadly the answer is much too long.]
I'll be glad to get that list from you. Uh..
[He glances around and then back to the camera.]
Where exactly to do I go to get settled?
no subject
Are you still near the temple where you woke up? I can dir--
[Something strikes him then and Regis changes his mind mid-thought.]
Actually, considering the "weather" and those little packs of bears running around, perhaps it is better if I meet you and direct you to housing myself. If there are two of us together, they may be less inclined to attack.
[Plus, magic shields make handy-dandy impromptu umbrellas.]
no subject
[He looked around and spotted where the road wound back to the temple.]
I'm by some kind of-
[He quickly moved so his back was against the wall. He lowered his voice.]
It's a repair shop. East Repairs or wait..
[He stole another glance.]
East Replicator Repair.
[It wont' hurt to stop back by the house before they try to find a place for him to stay. Besides, he can rid himself of all that chocolate in the process
and we won't be getting Tony drunk at the cat cafe again. LOLRegis takes note of the location when it is given and then nods.]
I know exactly where you are. Stay there and I'll arrive shortly.
[And by shortly, he means in like under 60 seconds. Warping makes everything easier. Just don't blast him when he drops down out of nowhere nearby please!]
Re: [Video to Action]
He waited for Regis to arrive. Only moments after they disconnected he heard something rushing up near him. He jumped back and within a second or two, his hand was encased in a metallic gauntlet. The palm of his hand had a sphere that glowed blue and a loud surge of energy blasted from the sphere.]
no subject
Well, the best mistakes are the ones a person lives to learn from, right?
As soon as he sees the man jump back and raise his arm, Regis dismisses what he was using to warp with--it was a pen, one he probably left on the counter at some point, in fact--to the Armiger and summons a shield in front of himself. From inside, he watches as the blast impacts it and then disperses the energy over its surface. Once that is gone, he looks back at the newcomer with a raised eyebrow and a slightly guilty expression.]
I did say I would arrive shortly.
no subject
Tony put a hand- the same one that just shot at him- to his chest and wondered if this would be heart attack number two. No, he was okay. He just might throw up, no biggie.]
I could've killed you, you jackass!
[There was no bite behind that word though. In fact 'jackass' almost sounded affectionate.
He took another shaky breath before he was fully sure he was okay.]
Are you alright? I didn't hurt you did I? I'm sorry..
no subject
When the apology comes, Regis actually finds himself frowning. He shakes his head, then dismisses the shield with a wave of his hand.]
Not to belittle the power behind that blast, but I've held much larger shields again more persistent forces. I am not hurt, but I must say, I can't accept your apology. Namely, because you don't owe me one. That was completely my fault.
[He closes the distance between them, and if allowed, will place a hand on the man's shoulder.]
Now, if you would be so kind. May this jackass know the name of the man he owes at least two bottles of wine to?
no subject
I wasn't shooting with my most powerful blast! If you ever want to test that shield of yours, let me know.
[Although having his apology brushed away does bring a small degree of a smile back and respect on his face. Yeah, he liked this guy. His metal gauntlet fell away, disappearing as though into oblivion. His outfit- cargo pants, hoodie, and boots- all had a military feel with both the pants and top the same red color (except the now brown chocolate spots).]
Tony Stark. Pleasure to meet you Reggie.
[He smiled at the pat on the shoulder and offered his hand. Why offer a handshake when he already had that brief contact? Tony had no idea. The friendly contact though was.. well, gratifying for reasons he didn't know.]
I'll accept those bottles as long as you're drinking with me.
no subject
I would certainly not mind another testing session, but why don't we plan that for sometime when you haven't just been dropped on a new world, covered in chocolate, and are being chased by hug-crazy bears?
[He returns the handshake firmly then nods in the direction of the house.]
It is a pleasure, Tony, and of course, I'll have a drink or two. What kind of host would I be if I didn't make sure the wine was suitable for good company?
[Never mind people usually taste the wine for a king and not the other way around.]
These bottles are actually from my home world, if not my home country.
[Thank you, Ardyn.]
no subject
And stop being so logical. He's pleased to talk about booze instead at least.]
Really? Eos- no-.. Insomnia, right? That's very generous.
[And with that, he'll follow the king anywhere!]
no subject
...well, if he can hold off magitek engines with it, he's certain he can hold off some annoyingly persistent bears too. It probably would even be kind of amusing to see them bounce off a shield a time or two.]
Eos is the world, yes. Insomnia is the capital of Lucis where most of those who you'll run into here are from. The wine, though, was brewed in Niflheim. It is one of the few good things I'll ever say came from there.
[The other is Prompto, through no choice of his own.]
