[Sometime relatively early in the squeaking problem, once it starts getting hard to sleep, Will finally makes his presence known on the network. He's still laying in bed as he flips the video on, hair a fluffy mess but mask firmly in place; the bedhead isn't helped in the slightest by the Flareon cuddled up against his chest, who seems quite intent on sleepily grooming him.]

Hi, everyone! I'm sure my household isn't the only one with a Rattata problem lately. Don't you all think they're getting louder at night?

Anyway, I noticed something! It actually seems quieter when I'm not trying to sleep alone--it's almost like they're avoiding my room when I've got a napping buddy?

[The camera pans as he turns it away from himself and the Flareon. Now, it's showing a Chansey curled up in a blanket nest; a Xatu is brooding over her like a mother bird, head tucked under her wing.]

I don't know, it could be just my imagination. But why not test it out and share our results here, if it's going to be hard to sleep anyway? If anyone wants to try sleeping together, with me or your roommate or whoever else you want, let's hear if you start feeling better!

Right, it makes sense! I've been wondering about it since the ribbon party . . . I met someone there who was spending all night just hugging his dog. Now that's working smart instead of working hard! It looks like you're covered yourself, literally.

After all, now that the Flareon is distracted from grooming him by watching Magolor on the screen, he sure is getting that big floofy tail bopped against the side of his head every few seconds as it wags. Given the fact that be barely reacts except to complain, it's probably a pretty common occurrence.

Maybe if he didn't have a steady stream of Dora constantly flowing in from this kind of nonsense, he'd be better about checking it..... right now though, he just knows that he has enough to live comfortably.]

Who brought a dog here? I didn't realize anyone else had animals.

Uh, mmmmmm, birthday boy's BFF . . . right, Keith!

[It takes him a moment to remember the name, but it'd been in the awkward video birthday invitation, that's right. And Magolor doesn't doubt for a second that Will had been at that party, either. Because the party don't start until Will arrives!

He curiously tries booping the camera with one finger, in Flareon's general direction.]

I'm so jealous of you both! But maybe I could borrow one of your friends to test this out . . . ?

Oh, him! I'll have to ask him about it one of these days. Maybe we can set up a play date for them.

[Flareon tilts her head, long ears perking up, and promptly bonks her nose against the screen in return--guess who's learned to boop the snoot on command? Being a trainer means you're just as good at training animals to do completely dumb, self-indulgent bullshit as you are at training them to battle.

Will snorts in amusement at this exchange--and yet, this is the first request made of him that actually sees him hesitate. He's a little protective of his babies, after all; he doesn't like to let them out of his sight for too long. Still..... Magolor is his friend too, right? He's not going to hurt them. They can protect themselves just fine, anyway, can't they? Of course he's just being silly.]

Welllllll..... I guess it can't hurt to try. I don't think Deja would go for it, she takes a bit to warm up to new people. Arche or Arete would probably like it, though!

[He peers over at Arete again through the camera, giving her another little wave. It's hard not to feel some kind of affinity for her too . . . with that body shape, and pink color, and simple expression, well. She reminds him of a lot of things he knows very well. But truthfully, he can't help but be charmed by fluffy orange doggie here, and that floof looks really comfy to curl up against!]

I think Arche and I have made a connection ♥ So if you're willing, count me in! I can even come over to your place if that'd make you both feel better. I'm not too good to crash someone's couch.

[The other two are starting to stir now, with all the talking. Arete waves sleepily in return, but doesn't get up yet--mostly because Deja is still atop her, stretching her wings and giving herself a good shake.]

Awww, I won't boot you to the couch, don't be silly! I can bring her over to stay with you for a night. As long as you want to, that is?

[Have an excited yip and more enthusiastic tail wagging in agreement; Will splutters in protest as he gets a mouthful of fur, holding a hand up to shield his face. If Magolor likes soft and warm, it'd be hard to find something more more comfy to sleep with than her.]

If you're suuuure! I'll brush up on my hosting skills and give my roommate a heads up. We'll be happy to have her company!

[It's around now that he notices that Arche is absolutely reacting to this conversation in a way that implies she understands it. That's very interesting, and not something he'd assumed of these creatures before. On one hand, he probably shouldn't take her as just an animal if that's how it is; on the other hand, that makes it all the more flattering that she seems to like this idea. Yessss, attention from fluffy doggie!]

Great! I'll bring along some food for her, too. I'm sure she'll be on her best behavior--won't you?

[Will gives the Flareon a pointed look; her ears immediately droop pitifully as she whines, giving them the biggest, shiniest puppy eyes she can muster at a moment's notice. How dare you insinuate she's anything but a perfect, innocent angel? If that's not proof she can understand the conversation.....]

[The same kind of face Magolor uses when he's in trouble! What a sneaky girl. They truly do have a connection.]

Anyway, if it's not short notice, I'd appreciate a good night's sleep tonight. How about it?

[Look at what a good connection they have! They really are cut from the same cloth; she starts wagging her tail again at the support. Will shakes his head at them both skeptically, finally moving to sit up.]

If you say so..... Tonight should be just fine, though! I'll drop her off around dinnertime so you can see if it helps when you're not sleeping, too.

[Will just laughs; he's absolutely going to be busy and rich, even without charging for the help he's giving people. He's always found the currency of favors to be far more lucrative, anyway.....]

I'll be happy as long as it helps people! It's good to stay busy anyway, as long as you don't overdo it. And napping with people doesn't exactly sound strenuous.....

[Here he goes on a little mental journey, considering the virtues of offering his own services similarly—though of course he'd charge for them. Taranza could get in on this business: two harmless cute little aliens for all your hugging, napping needs, non-threatening, non-awkward, happy to help, only charging maybe a thirty, no, fifty percent premium for their time, while of course raking in their own cash on top of that from the constant physical contact . . .

Would it work as a business model? Maybe. Can he stand the thought of it? Not so much. Magolor's done a lot of things he doesn't love for the sake of profit, but this is probably a service he couldn't bring himself to offer. Blegh.

I sure wish my job involved napping all day! Say, if you don't mind . . . I'm pretty curious about how busy you'll actually be. No need to name names or anything like that, but are people taking you up on it?

I mean, it could if you want? There's nothing stopping you from giving people a hand, too!

I should really get a steady job again, myself--but a couple people have taken me up on it, so I may need to put that off for a little longer. Being a trainer isn't exactly in demand here, though, so I'm not sure what I'd even do.....

What kind of trainer? Personal trainer?

[It doesn't even occur to him, stupidly, that this involves Pokemon. Will seems like he has a good personality to be a personal trainer . . . ]

[Pokémon trainer, personal trainer, basically the same thing. Just for cute critters instead of humanoids.]

I'm a Pokémon trainer! It's a sport in my world. A little like fencing or martial arts, if Halcandra or Pop Star have those--people tame Pokémon and teach them how to fight, then they battle each other. Not only are you helping Pokémon bring out their full potential and strength, but you're also developing your own ability to read a situation and adapt quickly, not to mention working as a team.

[Ohhhh, so that's how it is? Magolor gives all three of the Pokemon in eyesight another, respectful look. So they're not just cute, language-understanding, cuddly pets!]

I'm not an expert in anything like that myself, but I know some pretty talented martial artists and swordfighters. So you're their coach. That is interesting. Even though I should know better than to judge a book by its cover, I wouldn't have guessed you were in bed with three martial artists right now!

[The Flareon puffs herself up proudly, (how fluffy can one critter get, honestly?) and crouches as though ready to pounce on at the tablet. Raaaaaawr, fear her! She's totally tough and fierce and badass!]

Hehe~ Pretty surprising, isn't it? Not all Pokémon look scary or powerful! But if you really understand how to work with them, they can all be strong in their own way. I've got a pretty big team, but only these three made it here with me for some reason.

So what kind of martial artists and swordfighters do you know, then? You must've met some real colorful characters on your adventures!

[Aaaaaaand just as soon as he starts thinking about a job, he's sidetracked again by the implications of just how cool it sounds like Magolor's friends are. For as focused as a trainer should be, he's a little distractable whenever he's not working--which, at least in Havenwell, is nearly always.]

[Good taste, Will, because Magolor's friends are the bestest ever, and if he sees the opportunity to make one's future life potentially very funny (for Magolor) and miserable (for Meta Knight), he's going to take it. How can he resist when he was asked about swords specifically and he's got adorable round friend-shaped battles on the brain?]

Oh, I've met people from all over the universe, of course. Everyone's got their specialty! When it comes to swords, though, I happen to be tight with just about the very best you could eeeeever hope to meet! I hope the natives haul him in here so you can meet him. Between you and me, he could really use a hug or ten. And . . . I don't like to admit anyone is cuter than I am, but he's juuuust adorable, so I doubt he'd have any problem ending up in someone's arms. Hehehe!

I guess we'll just have to cross our fingers and hope he makes it here! Maybe he'll have some tips to improve my technique, even if there's nobody around to challenge me.

[Lorlor . . . he's gonna need some time to decide how he feels about that. As long as it's not just Lor! That would be too weird! For now, though he's going to need time to process having a cute nickname, he just giggles at it, and the compliment. Why yes, he is adorable, thanks for noticing.]

Are you a swordfighter too? Or is one of your friends?

[Hmmm. Chansey looks like she could wield a blade.]

Me? Oh, definitely not! One of my coworkers practices with a sword sometimes, though? Koga's a trainer and a ninja.

[Have a playful smile; yeah, he's pretty sure neither of these count, but imagining a sword-wielding Kadabra is pretty Cool (TM). He has quite a few people-shaped Pokémon who could hold a sword, if they really wanted to.]

But one of my Pokémon that didn't make it here fights using a spoon, does that count? And another one could've evolved into a blade fighter, if she was a he..... I don't really know why Gallade have to be male. It's not like all Gardevoir are female or anything.
