Food for thought:

As this is the time of year in which this world seems the most vulnerable, it seems prudent to remind all to be cautious. Whether or not a disturbance occurs or not, it has been two years since the initial barrier's breach, and one year since, for lack of a better description, a ghostly invasion.

There have been tremors occurring near the factory which can be traced to some noticed issues, though none of the citizens thus far seem to have anything conclusive to report on it, unless they are hesitant to commit to it. Given the barrier in the mine seems to be more vulnerable than the one currently surrounding the city, it might well be considered a point of entry, even if our study of it is still yet limited at this time.

Considering the timing, we will see if this bears any interruption, or potential detraction, from any celebration they may intend to hold in the next coming month.

To add to that thought, it could also not hurt to test if our little device could provide additional energy to boost those potential shields further, instead of relying solely on the arcane design. It may very well be that the area is currently a considerable weak point with all else that needs to be protected.

I'm not against it, but are you sure you want to risk losing it by dropping it down a mineshaft? Sounds risky to me. Those things don't grow on trees.

I had thought we might be able to expand or redirect from it, rather than relying solely on the physical presence of the device itself.

Although that aspect may take more research and time that we may not have to spare.

Sounds like a project more for you and Pyra to poke at, though as usual I'll support where I can. I've always been more mage than engineer, you know that.

You're right that we might not have the time, though. I at least know that you can't rush science if you want it done right.

In any case if something is indeed attempting to break through, it should not be taken lightly. The question is if they'll allow us close enough access to further decide what might need be prepared on short notice. Want to find out?

You would not be wrong. He did try to change his tune when I mentioned you, of course. Worried that it would land him in some terrible trouble.

Otherwise he had been too quick to doubt whether or not he has anything worth offering at all, when the whole concept seemed fairly romanticized to begin with. My concern is that he does not see my flaws, for how much he wants to protect me. He would... not be the first.

Although, funny you'd say that. I did have a conversation recently that reminded me of him. The way he'd... struggle, with my speaking habits. It was kind of nostalgic.

Well, it had occurred not too long ago, while I was explaining some of the situation I brought up in this communication of past events.

Talking about it all then of course resulted in pondering about what had all occurred previously, and... well you know how I can get with explaining these matters. He wasn't used to deciphering that sort of conversation. It had been a while since someone had indicated something of that nature to me.
