Let's see... Ah. There. That little red light must it's recording.
Greetings! As must be painfully obvious, I'm quite unused to these devices so I will skip straight to the point.
Is it common for everyone here to be wearing something different or is it some manner of uniform? Oh, and assuming the former is the case, are there any guidelines on what is and is not acceptable in this culture?
I know it must seem a strange question, but aside from the metal inhabitants, 'twas the first thing I noticed. And I'd rather avoid making any unfortunate assumptions on my very first day.
Your assistance is much appreciated.

I suspected as much, but I thank you for the forewarning all the same. I shall endeavor to keep my robes about me for the foreseeable future. All the moreso with nothing else to change into.

A tailor? Interesting... I don't hear about those very often. I would be more than happy for any directions you would send my way.

My thanks for the offer, but I wouldn't want to put you out of it, especially so soon after my arrival.

action; Endwalker spoilers forever
This soul puts them all to shame, and without even so much as thinking about it, Emet-Selch's head snaps up, as if at a sound only he can hear. It can't possibly be... and yet there the soul is all the same. Whole, unsundered, and familiar in a way he hadn't ever expected to see again.
It's the work of but a moment to track the soul to the temple in question and then he is gone, without so much as a by-your-leave. Vanished into one of his ubiquitous portals without so much as a second thought.
He arrives in Ohma's temple only mere moments later, appearing out of a similar portal with comparatively little fanfare.]
So it is you.
[And isn't that a surprise, when he's spent nearly a year in this place and seen not even so much as suggestion that any of his people would show up. Not for more than a brief moment, anyway.]
no subject
Well, well... You certainly look different, don't you?
[He never thought he'd see the day Emet-Selch wore something other than the robes of their people, stickler for tradition and propriety that he is.]
Decided to do as the natives do, did we? Or...
[He trails off, smile faltering as he looks at Emet-Selch a little closer. No, it's not just the appearance that's different. The soul and the body don't match--not enough for one to reject the other, but enough to be blindly obvious to someone like him. And that's without getting into the soul's age.
Curiosity and worry gnaw at the back of his mind, but Hythlodaeus keeps his questions to himself for now. That line of inquiry doesn't seem like the sort of thing that should be discussed in public.]
...Well. Nevermind that. I'm more than grateful to find a familiar face.

You can pretty much wear what you want, though.

I can't help but notice that many of the people brought here appear to be decidedly not. I wonder if they specifically choose for it of if theirs is simply a unique phenomenon.

You can wear whatever you want! just be careful with the cold.

Hythlodaeus fumbles with the device a moment before he finally responds, having figured out how to enable video.]
I have been thinking about making a pair of gloves... But if I may ask, are you not cold yourself?

Though I would imagine one might have more pressing questions or priority than simply the matter of clothing, unless you have otherwise benefitted from other explanations.
no subject
The clothes just happened to be one of the greater sources of culture shock at the time.

Voice
[Most likely this person was from the wrong time period to have acquired those skills but that wasn't something that could be determined by voice alone.]
Do you really need us to tell you how to dress? You sound old enough to make that decision yourself.
no subject
To dress myself, yes. To dress myself well is another matter. But let us set that aside for the moment.
You know how to use these devices quite well, yes? I should be glad to have the guidance of an expert on my side, should you be willing to offer it. I've naught but the clothes on my back to offer in return at the moment, but should you wish for something relatively small and--more importantly--simple, I might be able to come up with something.
