No, even with the Echo their language is non-sensical to me.

There is a faction of nightshades — the Mandragora royal family — that have been going around waking up other vegetables to prompt rebellion, but beyond the occasional screaming carrot they've had little success.

Admittedly it's quite startling to pull a tuber from the ground only to have it scream an ungodly scream at you.

The yellow one is Peki and he's mine, the fluffier blue one is Captain and he's my brother's. The black birds are amaro. Seto is the large one and he's my husband's. Hythlo is the baby I hatched. He's like a toddler. Very adorable & incredibly soft.

It's not any different than killing fauna for meat, save for being less messy. Spontaneous sentience of pantry vegetables doesn't happen, so far as I'm aware. It was the mandragora royals 'waking' them in the case I investigated.
