I have a feeling that I'm going to regret this...

[A tall brunette appeared before the camera, with his hands stuffed in his pockets, and his shoulders thrown back. He wasn't lacking for courage in posing his question but he was already dubious about what the results might be]

Is there anyone here who has prior experience with interdimensional travel that was undertaken by the traveller's own volition, and has practical knowledge as to how it was achieved? Before everyone chimes in, make sure that you fit both requirements. The only exception will be if you think you have something to contribute to the discussion that could help push this science forward.

[ Unfortunately, as Ann scrolls through her feed, Seto's little live feed pops up and she can only stare. And stare. This is a good way to lull her to sleep, honestly -- and considering she's already lazing about in their bed, it's almost enough to knock her out completely.

[Flinging out a hand to turn off his tablet, Kaiba can only hope he did it in time to not have it picked up over the feed]

[He practically snarled at her, huffily leaving his position, coat flaring out behind him, to come and glower down at her]

This happens to be very important... not just for me, but it could be for you as well. Unless you like the idea of staying trapped in this touchy feely petri dish.

...she pulls the covers up and over her head, content to curl up and enjoy the warmth and not have to see what she can only imagine is a very handsome face of pure rage. ]

[ Aha, at least she's temporarily stunned him. Which is why she's not going to let up. ] If we go back to Domino City, how am I supposed to know if you're going to be touchy feely if you're not making money from it, hm~?

[Not appreciating the implication despite being the one that said moments ago that physical contact was mandatory to make an income... besides he honestly doesn't want to answer her question. Going back to Domino would complicate things in many ways. There would be an adjustment period, he couldn't just show up after years with a girlfriend and no explanation.]

Although Seto wasn't one to project his concerns and emotions too frequently he was also concerned about what changes they might be facing if he manages to get them to his dimension. The problem is that he knows he has responsibilities to keep and it was possible that something could have happened to his brother in the interim. ~~Bros before hos~~. No, seriously he would never think of it in such vulgar terms. Ideally, he could make it all work- and since he was... well.. himself he should be able to swing it.]

She would never want to stand in the way of the relationship he has with his brother, and she's got some loose ends to tie up at home, too. ~~Potential graduation...~~ It's just a little scary to think that maybe one day, they'll be forced to separate, never to see each other again. It's on her mind a lot, even if she tried to push that bit of anxiety down.

[To that he would have argued that there were plenty of schools in Domino, it didn't have to be that joke of an institution she attended in the past. Better yet, private tutoring would be even more beneficial. You would think someone with such influential parents would never have needed to attend a ... shudder.. public school such as Ann had. More proof of her parents neglect, in Kaiba's opinion. There was always that fear that something would come between them, but he was usually arrogant enough to think he could find away to control the situation to bend it to his favor. Hence, his current line of research.]

One way, has you shivering in your sleep.. and the other would be infinitely more pleasant.

[Sparing a glance briefly to the now abandoned tablet, he figured he could abandon it for a few minutes. One wouldn't want to appear overeager on a potentially sensitive subject...

Moving closer to the bed, he placed a knee on the mattress, letting go of the blanket behind him. It bunched uselessly on the floor.]

[ Ann doesn't even want to think about school right now. Granted, if they did end up leaving to Domino at the same time, she'd do whatever it took to graduate asap and to, y'know, not embarrass him in the slightest. Even though likely they'd have to keep their relationship on the down low for quite a while. She's also pretty sure... he's got a whole lot of things to deal with on his end, too. ~~Isn't your soul stuck in a tablet??~~ But despite her fears that they'll be forever separated, it is kinda nice to think of a future together that isn't... here. To have some sense of normalcy... ]

The other sounds like sleeping isn't involved at all...

[ She follows his gaze to his tablet, too, for an entirely different reason, making damn sure it's not... on, before her eyes flit back to him as he moves that much closer. As the blanket drops, she's realizing that yeah, she's not going to need that blanket anymore, anyways, and she flashes him a smile. ]

[That wouldn't surprise him, school never seemed to be one of her favorite subjects. To an extent he understands that seeing as he only attended a few rounds of traditional schooling himself, though he knows their reasons are different. ~~COUGH... look.. he might have.. sort have... conveniently forgotten that part.~~ Apparently, Yugi's assurances that the Dartz situation works itself out was enough for him, which on second thought should have him questioning himself further. Sleeping is overrated. Think of all those lost hours in unconsciousness when you could be applying that time to more.. creative pursuits.

[Mercifully the indicator light is off, so they should have all the privacy they want.]

Dunno, sleeping is one of my favorite hobbies... [ She absently twirls the end of a pigtail around one of her fingers, before sighing and just tugging her hair free, running her fingers through the mess of blond. ] I think I can definitely think of another hobby to spend some time on, though.

She laughs at that line about being 'irresponsible' though, because she can't help it. Seto Kaiba and irresponsible somehow don't sound right together. ]

I have some experience in the matter. Though it would be useful to know how you mean to define 'interdimensional' in this case. Not all dimensions are built the same, after all.

If you're asking for further clarification than perhaps you can support your claims. ["Or, you're an idiot, it's a thin line." At least he doesn't vocalize these thoughts.. yet.] Why don't we start with a detailed summary of your experiences, then I can determine whether there's anything I can apply to my own theories?

I realize that the mechanics in Havenwell vary with those of our own worlds but there's nothing to say that an adaptation couldn't be forged.

I had hoped to avoid lengthy explanations.

[Not because he can't back up his claim. But because his preference has often been to avoid unnecessary effort.]

The world from which I was pulled is one split across a myriad of reflections. Shards, many would call them, each a world in its own right, separated by what we call the rift. A barrier between dimensions, through which passing is all but impossible even should one be aware of the existence of said shards.

I used to travel between planer systems on a spaceship. It was... half our own volition, I'd say. We were able to leave by choice, but only when the system itself allowed us. Like waiting for a door to unlock before you put your shoes on.

So did you have any integral knowledge of the spaceship? What fueled it, how it managed to reach the velocity and trajectory needed to traverse those systems?

We were never given a reason for why we couldn't leave- just that we couldn't. Planer systems can be weird like that, that's the lesson we took from it.

[Shrug. A great deal of what occurred on their journey was left unexplained long after it ended, and there's really no helping it.]

The short answer is: magic. The long answer is that one day our homeworld acquired something we called the light of creation, and it granted our population both power and inspiration to advance our technologies by hundreds of years in the span of one. Its power was used to develop something called a 'bond engine', which uses the interconnecting bonds between living beings, locations, and object matter itself as fuel. Even emotions, feelings, thoughts. Bonds in the universe are infinite, so the bond engine would never run dry.

The capacity to leave our system was built in from the ground floor, so the engine wasn't given velocity so much as accessibility, if that makes sense. More often than not, what breaks one free of a plane of existence isn't speed, but finding the right pathway. Or, like I said: unlocking a door.

[Kaiba pauses a few moments, waiting for this person to expand on some kind of theory but nothing comes...]

Ugh, what? You expect a random kid to start spouting off the complicated bits of it? I wasn't paying attention to enough of it to explain it to you, but it should get you started, right? Like...

Time, and worlds and shit, they're like threads? And sometimes they get all knotted, and fucky, which is bad, and makes choir teachers go power hungry and go on murdering sprees? So you have to loosen the threads, and then... braid them. Bam. Multi-dimensions saved.

Out of curiosity, why are you asking?
