Greetings. My name is Prince Reyson of the Heron Clan.

As you know, we have trouble lately with the breach. To ensure such a thing does not occur so suddenly, I thought about proposing a part-time perimeter guard of the walls. I think we would be better prepared should anything happen again.

Also, as I know some people were hurt or struggling, you are welcome to see me. I have the power of the galdr which means I can soothe one's spirit, trauma and pain. Should you have need of my abilities, do let me know.

[The last name got her nodding.]

It was Ulki! He was very serious most of the time.

[Vianca you, also, only have one real expression.]

He treats all matters rather seriously.

But he is a good and loyal companion. Tibarn loaned him to me while I was on the battlefield.

Ohh. I would want him on my team too. He did help my sister and I a few times, so I suppose he might have been a little bit.

[heron]

[ what was ulki doing? ]

[She paused, searching for a different phrase.]

I just mean on my side, like on the battlefield. He's a very good ally, like you said.

[ what is a child doing on a battlefield . . . ]

Yes. I've always found him reliable. The Hawk clan in general have been our greatest allies.

[Running mostly, to be honest.]

That is very good. I regret that I did not get to talk to him often... but he was always there for Rhys, so I was always grateful to him. I hope you were both doing well, in your world.

[ there was a healer named Rhys. ]

Ah, we're doing well since the war ended.

I am glad there was an end.

[She didn't actually know about their war. There were a lot of things she didn't actually know about their world or what else they had been doing-- they didn't venture it and Vianca didn't think to question. This realization didn't feel good.

Did you know Rhys? I was sure they came from the same place...!

[heron]

Yes. We were not close but he was a true companion to Ike.

[ and reyson trusted ike's judgement. ]

[She nodded.]

He was our school nurse, when he was there. I was his assistant. He was-- [Very important to her and she missed him and never got to say goodbye] --always looking out for everyone.

He tried to teach me magic, but I think it was a different kind from your galdr.

[heron]

Correct. You're well-informed.

Galdr is innate. It's something we're born with and only herons possess it. Humans can master light or elemental magic through books though.

[pinkmin]

I see. [That was curious though.] Could you not learn more magic through the books if you wanted?

[heron]

I'm afraid not. Human magic cannot be mastered by the laguz. Our own magics are not compatible with them.

[pinkmin]

[Vianca blinked, and then she tilt her head a little from side to side as she considered:]

Oh, that would explain why it never actually worked when Rhys was showing me.

That's unfortunate.

I am not a laguz, but I function similarly.

Right now I am just shaped like a person, but I could not be called a human.

What would you be called then?
