[Will isn't expecting a package. He hasn't ordered anything, after all--and why wouldn't he go pick it up at the store, if he had? But he gladly signs for the small padded envelope regardless, and retreats to the living room to open it. A single, marble-sized Pokéball spills out into his hand; he gasps out loud, immediately standing to enlarge it and let out the Pokémon inside. A Hypno appears in a blaze of crimson light, looking around the unfamiliar room.]

Reve! Y-you--I thought--

[A little choked noise, like he's trying not to cry, and Will throws his arms around her for a tight hug.]

I'm so, so sorry. I never meant to abandon you, I didn't know I'd be leaving.....

[Once the reunion is out of the way, Will flips on the video feed to make a post, looking more genuinely, radiantly happy than just about anyone has seen him here.]

Hi, everyone! I've got a favor to ask--or maybe an offer to make? I guess it depends on how you look at it!

Another member of my team arrived today! This is Reve.

[The camera pans over to show a Hypno sitting on the couch, polishing an already glittering pendulum. She looks up at the introduction, raising a hand in a silent greeting.]

Reve is a Hypno. Hypno are technically omnivores, but primarily psychovores--they mainly eat products of other creatures' minds. In this case, it's dreams. Where I'm from, I can normally easily keep her fed just by battling, since that's my job. That's not an option in Havenwell, though.

So my proposal is this: if you have nightmares you want to be rid of, or even if you just need help getting to sleep and want to keep your dreams, please let me know! You can contact me privately too, if you'd rather not speak up where everyone can see. There's no need to pay, of course--you're already giving us something, after all.

Awww, thank you for the well wishes! I'd never even considered artificial ones, though, that's a good idea. I'm not sure how the replicator could handle something like that, considering how much it struggles with even normal food--but it's definitely worth trying.

[If people aren't having nightmares, then he'll just have to feed her nice dreams instead! And be extremely happy that his friends are all sleeping well for once. Totally worth it!]

May I ask... how does Reve feed upon dreams? [ She asks, tone earnest to learn. ] Is it something common in your world?

Oh, of course! It's not a very common diet, but a handful of Psychic and Ghost types eat things like dreams and emotions.

I don't really understand the specifics myself, I'm not a professor or anything like that--but from what I've seen, it seems like it's basically a kind of energy absorption? We have to physically break down the chemicals in food to convert it into energy. They must be able to perceive and manipulate dreams, and break them down into the psychic energy that created them.

But since dreams aren't tangible to begin with, it's probably a lot less work than digesting food, don't you think?

[ For what it's worth, his explanation seems to make perfect sense to her. ]

I would think that emotional energy becomes easily dispersed from a person. Or... does it ever linger?

Oh, it can absolutely linger, under special circumstances. Have you ever gone to a hospital and just felt uncomfortable, like the air is heavy and thick? Or somewhere abandoned, and you just felt sad for no reason? People say some kinds of ghosts are just lingering thoughts and sentiments, too.

[ In that case, she has but a few follow-up questions. The first comes with her hand going to her cheek, her expression pensive. ]

...Is Reve able to reconstruct memories out of those lingering emotions?

Reconstruct them? She wouldn't be able to tell you what happened at a haunted house, if that's what you mean. She'll know what you were dreaming about when she eats it, but you'd be getting it back secondhand from her perspective, if she tells you about it.

Musharna are better at that sort of thing, actually. They produce a kind of mist as a byproduct of the dreams they've eaten, and they can use it to project images from them.

[ Slowly: ]

What... is... a Musharna...?

Oh, sorry!

[Will laughs and shakes his head at that.]

They're a related species to Hypno, but not quite the same thing. They're about half Reve's size, but much rounder, with stubby little legs and a longish nose--

[Will raises a hand to his nose and curls his fingers in and out to indicate a trunk.]

--and the top half is pink, while the bottom half is purple. They're absolutely adorable--they kind of look like living plush toys, honestly. Especially since they are so popular as plush toys for kids to sleep with.

[ Her eyes widen as he describes the creature, her wonder catching the light. ] I can't imagine how they would be more adorable than they sound like.

Are such... [ She's not sure what to call them. Reve-- this "Hypno?" perhaps-- It doesn't seem appropriate to call her a beast or a creature. ] species... Are they common in your world?

They are! Your world has animals, doesn't it? Mine has Pokémon instead. From what people have told me, they're fairly similar in a lot of ways, but not entirely the same.

[Will turns his tablet around to point outwards instead, making an encouraging clicking noise with his tongue; a Flareon bounds into view a moment later, shoving her head into his hand for petting as she eyes Pyra through the screen.]

[ What is--

Oh!

Pyra exclaims as she sees the Pokemon bounce into view. With such a brilliant amber red to her, Pyra is not sure if this new "Pokemon"'s coat is fur... or made of literal fire. There's something so soft about the way she has nuzzled so swiftly into the young man's hand, as if she's done so plenty times before. It boasts an incredible amount of trust between human and not-human...

As well as love. ]

[ Pyra's expression becomes nothing less than endearing. ]

Goodness... this little one's eyes are sparkling for you. What is their name?

Her name is Arche! She's a Flareon. How about saying hello, hmmm~?

[The camera is briefly but completely obscured by fluff as she nuzzles the screen as well. The real tragedy here is that Pyra's not right there to get snuggles, isn't it? Clearly, there's no fear of people here whatsoever, even strangers.]

[ Pyra's fingers reach out to touch the screen softly, as if she might feel the warmth and comfort of the welcome all the same. Hand soon withdrawing to herself, her smile returns to its gentle nature of before. ]

Arche.... [ She repeats. ] And she smiles like the sun.

[ Pyra's eyes flit back up to that of Will's. ] And your name?

Mmhmm~

[Even that wordless confirmation is full of warmth and pride. Will gives her a gentle nudge so she doesn't completely block the camera; Arche backs up a little to sit down, watching the camera intently.]

And my name is Will. Nice to meet you!

Pyra. [ She replies kindly, bringing a hand to her chest. ]

I hope we'll get to meet again, Will.
