Video: Achtom 6th - Early Morning
[Cor was not intending, initially, to do this as a video. Such requests would certainly go better if someone has a face to go with the voice, can see the type of person they'd be working with. He's as stern as ever, even if there are subtle indicators that he's been exerting himself recently. The ever-present jacket discarded for once, sweat clinging to his face, breathing slightly elevated.]
I know I am not alone in being unused to such... quiet. I suspect many of you are from worlds where such unquestionable peace is not the norm. I am a soldier, as I have ever been, and there is familiarity in the discipline of body and mind.
[A noise off screen, an animal perhaps? Something dying? A lazy king snoring? The deepening scowl on Cor's face makes it apparent that whatever it is Cor isn't happy about it.]
If anyone would like to join me in the mornings for training routines perhaps we can teach one another of the fighting styles of different worlds.
[Again a noise, this time more like a chainsaw or motor boat than an animal and Cor takes a moment to wipe sweat from his brow, heave a sigh and his expression turns a touch apologetic.]
Also if anyone has access to a chess board or mahjong table they'd be willing to share I would greatly appreciate it.

[She well knew the difference between being more inclined toward researching when compared to those more suited to consistently commanding others, but even so an adjustment needed to be made there as well.]
Perhaps your request for more general training with others will bear fruit. You may... also want to consider other points of investment for yourself, in... honing skills or knowledge that you did not yet have an opportunity to impart or even to pursue.
[His games, for one, which might only take him so far, but he might have had other concepts tucked away that he'd given little thought to otherwise.]
no subject
[A soft sigh, half exasperated, half amused. He'd never had the time for it before but now? Now what in the six is he meant to do with himself.]
My work has been my life for so long now... it's a difficult habit to break out of.
no subject
[The words are not said lightly, even if he does not know anything about why she knows this at all.]
But that does not mean... that it is not worth the attempt.
no subject
[He has no doubt it will be difficult and he knows in utter hypocrisy he would encourage others to do the same, to not be like him. But he also knows nothing will be more difficult or painful than retrieving his King and his Shield's bodies from where they'd been abandoned in the fallen citadel and putting them to rest as they deserve.]
I suspect I will need some assistance in checking old habits, though. A reminder to leave the Marshal to rest and allow the man some small time at the forefront.
[The fact that The Marshal is so separate from himself and his own wants and desires that he's compartmentalized the two in his mind says a lot about exactly what sort of mental state he's been in all these years but if anyone understands he's pretty sure she will.]

Having others around to check in... does help.
[To have the mantle of such a focused identity weighing you down... it was extremely relateable, especially with the military background. Her other issues aside. There is one direction she can think to lead him in, though.]
... Although if you are familiar with Prompto, I am sure he would be more than willing to assist you with distractions as well.
[She had not missed the mention of that particular name, and there's even a hint of something softer to her tone when she says it.]

I helped to train all of them, including putting Prompto through his paces so he could go with Noctis. I don't know that he'd be comfortable being so casual with me. Granted it seems he's had time away from home so perhaps not.
[That's okay Honerva, Prompto makes everyone go soft. Even The Immortal.]
no subject
[She can understand that. People who were often tied to such roles had difficulty in seeing beyond them. She knew that extremely well.]
I do not think he would refuse you, however. Perhaps in a way, it will allow him to... shine in a way he feels comfortable.
no subject
[He really likes the idea of Prompto being confident and comfortable enough to be informal with him like that... Even if he's not entirely sure it will happen. The blond seems to have mellowed some but he's still used to stammering awkwardness.]
The only way to know will be to ask, I suppose. It can't hurt.
no subject
[No matter the level of difficulty in doing so, but that was already clear.]
no subject
Does this mean you know him from this... space ship he was on before? Or have you only just recently met him?
no subject
[Knowing he had some knowledge of where Prompto had been made it a little easier. As much as she should have expected the question for how warmly she had been discussing him.]
I am grateful that he remembers.
no subject
[That last comment makes him frown a little, though. Curious and it takes a moment for him to slide together the pieces of what that implies.]
Does that mean it might have been a different version of him that came here. Before he'd been taken by your Atroma?
no subject
[Which is partially a jest, but on the other hand, she's honestly surprised by his statement. But it wasn't as if he had known, how different she had been back then.
Which was ... fairly upsetting to think about for longer than necessary, in her case.]
He had disappeared from the fleet before those of us remaining... resolved the situation there. Though he has also mentioned seeing others here who did not recall the time there as well. When it comes to the variances in realities, many things are possible.
no subject
[Not that he doesn't appreciate the joke but he's trying to wrap his head around the implications here, Honerva.]
Variances in realities.
So you believe it to be a great deal more complex than merely alternate points in time?
no subject
[Sorry for the headache, Cor. To be fair, it's what she has to deal with. Constantly thinking of things like this.]
no subject
[Astrals have mercy]
I've been doing my best not to step over any lines and create some sort of time paradox but I am years, if not decades, ahead of some of the others from my world. I'm not entirely sure what the ramifications would be at this point, though... with how varied things are. Prompto isn't even from Eos now.
no subject
[Why do canon updates exist, we just don't know-]
As for Prompto, his origin will always be in the universe of your Eos, if nothing else. Whether or not he is still bound to it... I wonder.
[Once again, it's trudging a little too close to painful territory for her, as much as she keeps the flow of conversation even enough.]
no subject
[He hums softly, thoughtfully.]
Prompto is very skilled at adapting to changes. Wherever he is from, whatever may have changed, he's still... a very skilled and compassionate young man.
[It makes him happy, even if he can't really take any of the credit for it.]
no subject
[Such being, their origin points were out of reach for the moment, and there were little guarantees of anything, even the present.]
Being away from the constraints of our universes is what allows for growth.
no subject
[A sigh, amused and exasperated.]
I don't know that growth is really possible for an old man. Too set in my ways, I think. But for him... for them.
[Cor you have no idea who you're talking to here.]
no subject
[Whether he wanted it or not or thought it was possible was only a small part of it. He was here, and he would change, somehow.]
no subject
[As he's over here figuring she might have like 5 years on him or something.]
no subject
[For experiencing both sides of the coin, for worse and now hopefully... for the better. As much as she needed the right push for such a thing.]
