[Sometime relatively early in the squeaking problem, once it starts getting hard to sleep, Will finally makes his presence known on the network. He's still laying in bed as he flips the video on, hair a fluffy mess but mask firmly in place; the bedhead isn't helped in the slightest by the Flareon cuddled up against his chest, who seems quite intent on sleepily grooming him.]

Hi, everyone! I'm sure my household isn't the only one with a Rattata problem lately. Don't you all think they're getting louder at night?

Anyway, I noticed something! It actually seems quieter when I'm not trying to sleep alone--it's almost like they're avoiding my room when I've got a napping buddy?

[The camera pans as he turns it away from himself and the Flareon. Now, it's showing a Chansey curled up in a blanket nest; a Xatu is brooding over her like a mother bird, head tucked under her wing.]

I don't know, it could be just my imagination. But why not test it out and share our results here, if it's going to be hard to sleep anyway? If anyone wants to try sleeping together, with me or your roommate or whoever else you want, let's hear if you start feeling better!

[It's not even an innuendo. ~~Unless you want it to be, of course.~~ Shocking, right? He's just going to offer his services as a bedwarmer if people want them. For Science!11 Also for Cuddles.]

[Will's smile only widens playfully. If you thought Will wouldn't casually flirt with you without missing a beat, Magolor, then you're sadly mistaken, no matter how alien a species you are..]

That's right! This is Arche, the pink one is Arete, and the one sitting on her is Deja.

[The Flareon yips happily in return, and for a moment, the camera is blocked by a wall of floof as she attempts to nuzzle Magolor through the screen.]

[D'awwww. Magolor isn't especially attuned to or affected by cuteness that isn't his own, but even so . . . that's reeeeal cute. Maybe it's easier because it's happening through a screen this time. He smiles and waves at the floofy orange one. All of these creatures look like things he easily might have encountered in some other galaxy, really.]

Aren't I supposed to help you taste-test one of these days? Beggars can't be choosers! I'll leave the main course up to you. And I should pass along that Taranza and I both reeeally appreciated your sweets from last time!

[For all he cares, the main course could just be more poffins.

The truth is, Will's demeanor is always just kind of like this, and so Magolor decides immediately that Will isn't actually fake-flirting (or real-flirting, what the heckie) anyway and there's no reason to feel awkward. Good thing that worked out inside his own head!]

Awww, you're welcome! We've definitely got to pick a time for that taste testing.

[Haven't you been trying to sucker people into cooking for you, Magolor? It may only be an offer for dinner, but hey, that's better than nothing.]

I'll have to think about that main course..... You didn't happen to pick up any recipes in your travels, did you?

[So it's dinner and a taste test as separate things . . . more food = good, more socialization = kinda awkward, but he'll live with it. He can deal for the sake of food and friendship(?)!

He tilts his head, hmmmm.]

I hate to say it, but not really. Cooking was always the one thing I outsourced wherever I went! There was no way I could handle the rest of my business and do all the catering too. And I didn't take the recipes with me when I left . . . but maybe I should keep that in mind for next time. Apparently, you never know when you might need them!

Wh--you're a traveling buisinessman, and you never even considered opening a restaurant catering to people interested in paying a premium for rare, exotic interdimensional delicacies crafted by hand-picked master chefs?

[He looks comically, melodramatically appalled at this oversight. He doesn't know much about business, but he's pretty sure dimension hopping is pretty rare.....]

You'd have completely dominated the market! Who else could have competed with you?

[Congratulations, Will: you get the rare sight of Magolor actually looking somewhat chagrined and shocked at this obvious oversight. No! Will is right! That would be a brilliant business plan! He even could have done that here and gotten incredibly rich! One hand goes to his mouth, and he stares at the camera and then away again, wide-eyed; one can practically see the wheels turning in his head.]

That's—now that you mention it, I never—

[Oh--had he really never thought about it, instead of just deciding that was way too much work? He..... actually hadn't expected that when he'd sassed Magolor, if he's being honest! It just seemed like such a given to assume that exotic goods would be the biggest moneymaker for someone who spent all their time traveling anyway..... like a modern day caravan!

After a moment of confusion, Will laughs outright, spreading his hands wide. Isn't he generous?]

I won't even charge you for the idea, then, how about that?

You're stealing all my lines!

[In some strange sense, in this moment, watching Will is like looking into a human mirror . . . even the mannerisms are uncanny. Is this what dealing with me is like?! He's gotten this feeling around Marx, too, and it always throws him.

But he rubs his face and huffs, recovering. He just needs a moment to go over this situation more rationally! It's not a perfect business model for his purposes by any means, but the seed having been planted is another matter. He can use this, maybe, in the near future.]

Anyway, if you're going to be like that, don't be surprised if I make you a business proposition one of these days. You've got an eye for it! I tend not to be the type who caters to the elite for this and that reason, but there's some real genius in the way you think.

[Will wags a finger at the screen playfully. Sorry, Magolor, this human mirror is too Extra to stop. ~~And honestly, too much of a mirror to. It's not a half-bad metaphor, really; he reflects what people want to see in him more often than not.~~]

Right, it makes sense! I've been wondering about it since the ribbon party . . . I met someone there who was spending all night just hugging his dog. Now that's working smart instead of working hard! It looks like you're covered yourself, literally.

[The fondest exasperated smile. After all, now that the Flareon is distracted from grooming him by watching Magolor on the screen, he sure is getting that big floofy tail bopped against the side of his head every few seconds as it wags. Given the fact that be barely reacts except to complain, it's probably a pretty common occurrence.

Maybe if he didn't have a steady stream of Dora constantly flowing in from this kind of nonsense, he'd be better about checking it..... right now though, he just knows that he has enough to live comfortably.]

Who brought a dog here? I didn't realize anyone else had animals.

Uh, mmmmmm, birthday boy's BFF . . . right, Keith!

[It takes him a moment to remember the name, but it'd been in the awkward video birthday invitation, that's right. And Magolor doesn't doubt for a second that Will had been at that party, either. Because the party don't start until Will arrives!

He curiously tries booping the camera with one finger, in Flareon's general direction.]

I'm so jealous of you both! But maybe I could borrow one of your friends to test this out . . . ?

Oh, him! I'll have to ask him about it one of these days. Maybe we can set up a play date for them.

[Flareon tilts her head, long ears perking up, and promptly bonks her nose against the screen in return--guess who's learned to boop the snoot on command? Being a trainer means you're just as good at training animals to do completely dumb, self-indulgent bullshit as you are at training them to battle.

Will snorts in amusement at this exchange--and yet, this is the first request made of him that actually sees him hesitate. He's a little protective of his babies, after all; he doesn't like to let them out of his sight for too long. Still..... Magolor is his friend too, right? He's not going to hurt them. They can protect themselves just fine, anyway, can't they? Of course he's just being silly.]

Welllllll..... I guess it can't hurt to try. I don't think Deja would go for it, she takes a bit to warm up to new people. Arche or Arete would probably like it, though!

[He peers over at Arete again through the camera, giving her another little wave. It's hard not to feel some kind of affinity for her too . . . with that body shape, and pink color, and simple expression, well. She reminds him of a lot of things he knows very well. But truthfully, he can't help but be charmed by fluffy orange doggie here, and that floof looks really comfy to curl up against!]

I think Arche and I have made a connection ♥ So if you're willing, count me in! I can even come over to your place if that'd make you both feel better. I'm not too good to crash someone's couch.

[The other two are starting to stir now, with all the talking. Arete waves sleepily in return, but doesn't get up yet--mostly because Deja is still atop her, stretching her wings and giving herself a good shake.]

Awww, I won't boot you to the couch, don't be silly! I can bring her over to stay with you for a night. As long as you want to, that is?

[Have an excited yip and more enthusiastic tail wagging in agreement; Will splutters in protest as he gets a mouthful of fur, holding a hand up to shield his face. If Magolor likes soft and warm, it'd be hard to find something more more comfy to sleep with than her.]

If you're suuuure! I'll brush up on my hosting skills and give my roommate a heads up. We'll be happy to have her company!

[It's around now that he notices that Arche is absolutely reacting to this conversation in a way that implies she understands it. That's very interesting, and not something he'd assumed of these creatures before. On one hand, he probably shouldn't take her as just an animal if that's how it is; on the other hand, that makes it all the more flattering that she seems to like this idea. Yessss, attention from fluffy doggie!]

Great! I'll bring along some food for her, too. I'm sure she'll be on her best behavior--won't you?

[Will gives the Flareon a pointed look; her ears immediately droop pitifully as she whines, giving them the biggest, shiniest puppy eyes she can muster at a moment's notice. How dare you insinuate she's anything but a perfect, innocent angel? If that's not proof she can understand the conversation.....]

Of course she will! Look at that face!

[The same kind of face Magolor uses when he's in trouble! What a sneaky girl. They truly do have a connection.]

Anyway, if it's not short notice, I'd appreciate a good night's sleep tonight. How about it?

[Look at what a good connection they have! They really are cut from the same cloth; she starts wagging her tail again at the support. Will shakes his head at them both skeptically, finally moving to sit up.]

If you say so..... Tonight should be just fine, though! I'll drop her off around dinnertime so you can see if it helps when you're not sleeping, too.

Hehehe, even better! I really owe you for this. You're doing everyone a public service with this announcement! . . . You're really going to end up busy, though, throwing out an open offer like that.

[Will just laughs; he's absolutely going to be busy and rich, even without charging for the help he's giving people. He's always found the currency of favors to be far more lucrative, anyway.....]

I'll be happy as long as it helps people! It's good to stay busy anyway, as long as you don't overdo it. And napping with people doesn't exactly sound strenuous.....

[Here he goes on a little mental journey, considering the virtues of offering his own services similarly—though of course he'd charge for them. Taranza could get in on this business: two harmless cute little aliens for all your hugging, napping needs, non-threatening, non-awkward, happy to help, only charging maybe a thirty, no, fifty percent premium for their time, while of course raking in their own cash on top of that from the constant physical contact . . .

Would it work as a business model? Maybe. Can he stand the thought of it? Not so much. Magolor's done a lot of things he doesn't love for the sake of profit, but this is probably a service he couldn't bring himself to offer. Blegh.

He can't help but be curious on some level, though. What people here are looking for—]

I sure wish my job involved napping all day! Say, if you don't mind . . . I'm pretty curious about how busy you'll actually be. No need to name names or anything like that, but are people taking you up on it?

I mean, it could if you want? There's nothing stopping you from giving people a hand, too!

I should really get a steady job again, myself--but a couple people have taken me up on it, so I may need to put that off for a little longer. Being a trainer isn't exactly in demand here, though, so I'm not sure what I'd even do.....
