Good afternoon! This is just a general question and it's not important, but if you had (or actually do have) wings, what would make you want to NOT have wings anymore?

Anyone can feel free to answer, regardless of experience with wings.

It was hard to find comfy spots for Reyson to sit, so I'd guess having real big ones would get annoying real fast if I wasn't used to them already.

But if everybody has them, they'd probably design their furniture to accommodate wings, right? Or if lots of people have them, anyway.

if I had to guess
maybe it would be hard to get clothes that fit around them? if you had to get special clothes it would probably be a big pain
and maybe if you were the only person who had them it could be embarrassing?

if I had wings I wouldnt get rid of them tho lol

I've no personal experience to this matter, however if you speak of the citizens here, we are aware they gave up more than just their wings, if they had them before, in the belief that their world would be saved by sacrificing their physical being. their later experiments on creatures that did have wings might be telling of that...

they also likely told themselves--or were conditioned--to believe that such things were unnecessary to numb the pain of their prior losses so as to no longer mourn. some struggled with the loss of taste for quite some time, or we wouldn't have had to educate them on things like food.

Oh, yes--this line of thought was inspired by a conversation I had with one of the locals earlier. Sorry for being so unclear all the time.

We knew they gave up their bodies, but it seems to me like wings shouldn't be all that hard to add on after the fact? Though I guess that's a pretty bold assumption, when I don't know much at all about technology. I would think there'd at least be some kind of fashion trend around it, though, even if making wings that work in't possible.

it is possible that they had too many other concerns at the time. and while we do not know what they may have attempted between their initial transformation and now, given the passage of time and what could have followed, they may have wanted to avoid reminders, if experiments had continued to fail.

those more connected to the towers might have more insight to those specific matters, given the nature of what they saw fit to release.

Not that I have wings, but I've been around someone who does. While he certainly couldn't tell you what's annoying about them, I can at least come up with some things.

They're highly susceptible to injury. They're used to lift a lot of weight, but it's not like it's muscle in there. It's really easy to rip, tear, puncture, or otherwise damage them permanently.

They're designed to catch wind, which is great and all, until it's really windy. Once slight wrong move when you have them tucked in can be enough for air to get under and whip one open.

They're also just flat out big. Really big.

I never thought about it, but wings can really be a liability, huh... I would think it'd be the same as with any other body part, but if you have really delicate or unwieldy ones, and they don't even regrow......

Delicate or unwieldy are concerning, definitely. Even if they aren't though, wings can be a challenge. No other part of the body is designed to interact with natural elements the way wings are.

That's true, if they're not really small wings. I guess it hinges on society, like everything else.

There’s an absinthe back home that is said to give the feeling of flight. I’ve several bottles of it but I’ve never tried a one of them - it looks awful and smells even worse.

Wings seem like they’d be rather cumbersome to manage. I would think I'd get tired of them after knocking over any number of things from my shelves.
