Hello, I am Era.
While there is finally a medical clinic available, if anyone finds themselves in need of treatment and would prefer the aid of healing magicks, you are more than welcome to contact me.
I have a few questions pertaining to an unrelated topic, if anyone is both willing and able to answer.
» How does one plan a wedding?
» What are the customary traditions one expects to see at a wedding?
» What do you like most about weddings, if anything?
My thanks for any insight you may provide me.

[Don't mind him completely ignoring the actual questions asked. The excitement of the magic has pretty much blinded him to everything else.]

I also began learning some modern (21st century Earth) medical techniques, so when injuries are too severe for restorative spells alone I am able to use a mix of techniques if need be.

Hmm. That's really cool! I don't know a lot of magicians that combine magic and physical abilities. Although most of the mages I know are battle mages.

There is only so much that restorative magic can do. It speeds up the body's natural healing ability to varying degrees, and while a powerful healer can do much more with their spells, a severe wound will still require a chirurgeon's aid. In general, healers can cure minor wounds, greatly improve moderate wounds, and help stave off death by an otherwise fatal wound until the wounded can be treated in hospital.
Where I am from, all mages can be battle mages. Personally, I find the most effective method of healing to be preventing the need to heal in the first place.

Are there... I'm not even sure how to phrase it without it sounding stupid. Healing magic specific spells that are used for battle? Or is it common practice where you're from to know multiple types of magic?
slams u with wall of text i'm so sorry she's such a nerd
Thaumaturges use the elements of fire, ice, and lightning to power their spells, whilst conjurers channel earth, air, and water.
They are both mages, and with the proper training most would be able to learn the other discipline.
Some may struggle, as every living creature has its unique elemental affinities. Humankind and its ilk are elementally neutral as a general rule, but one individual may struggle to channel their aether (magic, life energy; all interchangeable terms in my realm) into a curative spell, yet be able to form a fire spell as easy as breathing.
A better example may be to liken it to athletes who run track — a marathon runner and a sprinter both can run, but cannot both run in the same way. In theory a sprinter could run marathons with training, or a marathon runner could sprint, though various factors may interefere.
Just as some people have genetic dispositions that aid or hinder them in sport, so too can the same be said for magic. One well-known example is the link between one's heritage and their stores of expendable aether, though there are always outliers.
So I suppose the short answer would be that no, there are no specific offense-focused healing spells. However, each healing discipline has its own unique offensive spells.
Conjurers can lift stone and manipulate air into powerful attacking spells. Astrologians can utilize celestial aether in the same way, though admittedly I know little about it.
I am a Scholar, which is a branch of arcanima that focuses on healing and defense rather than strictly offense. My younger brother created his own unique form of healing magic based upon similar concepts, which goes to prove that there is always new innovation to be made.
Apologies for rambling — I've a keen interest in the topic. My natural affinity tends to favour healing, but I've equal aptitude in the other disciplines I've dabbled in as well.
talking to a magic lover who is a sponge for new information. he doesn't care.

As for weddings, I've been to a handful, but the one that sticks out in my mind is when the King and Queen got married. I wasn't really in the planning, but I me and Donald were both the Best Man for the King, since we're his best friends.
text
What does a best man do?
text
text
Did the Queen have something similar to a best man as well?
And may I ask what the topic of the speeches were?
[ She is very sure she doesn't want any of those, but if it's something the attendees would enjoy... ]
text
As for the Queen, she got a Maid of Honor. She did the same stuff for Queen that we did for the King - she was already her Lady In Waiting, so she already knew what to do!

Era!
I’m sorry I don’t know much in ways of planning a wedding, but I believe it starts with picking a date and guests. Friends, loved ones, family... All of those one cares about.
Customary traditions vary, wouldn’t they? Even down to the garbs worn, especially when it comes to cultural or religious practices. [ In her own world, they differed between each Titan. ] But from what I’ve seen, there is always some sort of food and drink at the wedding celebration, and gifts given to the couple.
What I personally like most about weddings are seeing the couple in love, and how happy everyone might be.

Friends, family, food, flowers, festivities, and formal wear seem to be the most commonplace customs, but it is as you say — there is a great deal of variance to be found in those things.
Thank you for the answer. I think the most important thing in the end is that everyone is happy.

Ice-cream cake?
A cake made out of ice cream?
no subject
There's a whole realm of possibilities when you include ice cream!
no subject
[ As if the magic of refrigeration and, well, magic, does not exist to prevent just such a thing. ]
It seems impractical for a wedding, yet delightfully refreshing in most other cases where it can be returned to the ice box posthaste.
[ She's absolutely going to see if she can order one from Lup ASAP. You don't need a wedding or a party to get a cake! ]
